I always reset default keyboard configs because none of the games use what I prefer - but in this case, I did not see a setting for "Reverse" at all. Right, left, forward. That's it. It's also why I never played the Hitman series or GTA - driving controls are brutal.

Rocks, Cactus, whatever - it undercuts my trust in the game to ignore my fumbling fingers. I keep going back to Borderlands as my ideal game for this very reason. All games should make it extremely hard for a player to fuck up their game like this. Because we WILL fuck it up :)
Also, I just found out there are a lot of mods related to key mapping at nexus mods.

So far I'm in the grey about it. I'm observing very very very few glitches. Probably the worst 2 being a character glitching in an elevator and one wall-clipped fight. Updating graphics drivers and the hotfix has made it possible to run on Medium graphics on my 980.

Maybe it's too early to say, having only gone part way into chapter 2. NPC interactions are totally flat. The crowds are nice and full but the only times anyone responds to me is when I bump into them, shoot a gun, or enter their cone of aggression. It seems like nothing happens beyond the script. I was expecting to see turf wars or at least random border battles, considering how hostile the gangs seemed to be. All I've seen so far are muggings, police shootouts, and "organized crime". "Organized" as in run'n gun through a hallway into a warehouse. Kill everyone, click the blue thing, done.

I've done a run of 'social experiments' to see how deep the AI goes.
Single act of violence: A radius of passive NPCs run, duck, and cover. Never to move again.
Killing spree: Just add police. Wanted star system.
Facing random passive NPCs: Nothing.
"Talking" to random passive NPSs: Pretty much nothing.
Hovering around police: Nothing.
Facing down police: Hostile. FINALLY!
Public nudity: Nothing... Really? Even perma-undies in Bethesda games garnered AI response. Yet, this game offers 4 kinds of ding-ding, and it's just... there. Not even a no-reason boner. (o_O)

It's pretty enough on a 6 year old built PC (Jeebus this video card has 9 lives). But, I'm having a tough time finding significant story branches. Passive AI isn't much more than walk, sit, or stand. Side missions so far fall pretty flat. Driving a vehicle is atrocious. Dialogue options barely go beyond 'next'...'next'...'next'. Maybe it gets better. 30 hours in, so I figure I've seen very little of the game so far. But, I'm not really seeing anything I haven't already seen in a couple GTA games.

It's not bad, it's....OK. I'm not experiencing many glitches or bugs. I feel like they cut a lot of stuff out and it's more like a beta, which a lot of triple A games feel like on launch and that there will be a lot of DLC in the future.

The worst graphical glitches I got were: A homeless guy stuck halfway in the ground, chopsticks duplicating themselves during a dialog, someone pulling a gun out of their head instead of a chip. For some reason, driving skips a couple of frames every now and then, which makes for some funny crashes.

I'm not playing on a top of the line rig: i5 6700, 32GB ram, 1660 GTX. Most of the settings are on high, I turned of film grain and left everything else alone.

It's decent enough where I'll finish it now, maybe revisit it in March or April after its been patched a few times.

I've gotten far enough into it now to say that it definitely has potential. I still STILL hate the driving, but in the intro quest with Jackie, he drove a lot of it and saved my hide :)

Not real happy with the interface even now. WTF uses the "ALT and "CTRL" keys to draw their weapon? "C" for crouch is fine - not original. But the best I could do in combat mode was just shoot the crap out of everything that had a crosshairs on it and let Jackie take the bullets.

So far it's doing... okay on my good enough powered pc, running on 1920x1080 ultra graphics settings. I have turned off film grain and motion blur, because I hate it with a passion.

For driving stuff I switch to a behind the vehicle view of the camera, then it works for me. Aside that the little problems are quite visible, e.g. the police does not really tend to chase you very long when you shoot somebody. This is very different to GTA. Also the police officers suddenly pop up out of nowhere, which is really unbelievable.

Sometimes also pedestrians just pop up out of thin air on the pavement, which looks funny, or people shoot you from behind closed opaque steel doors. Suffice to say the developer has still enough to fix on this game.

But aside that all is playable, and if not, save games are your friend. What's really a lack luster is the AI of gangsters on the street, they are really potato heads. Also crafting is meh, could really use an update.

I am now at the point where I can meat Hanako Arasaka at the restaurant, but do not want to start it yet, because this means I must follow the main missions to the end and cannot do side missions and contracts any longer until the main missions are finished.

I can't play it due to my underpowered computer but I think it is really sad you can't rebind the movement controls to the up and down arrows, at least without editing obscure config files. Us left handed people NEED that. It's possible in pretty much every other game.

How To Rebind The Unrebindable Controls

...gun...
*Laughs in Mantis Blades* =^-^=

Starting to think the prologue sucks and fails to reflect the actual game. The whole run of missions plays out like a 6 hour version of the 6 minute opening heist in GTA games. It picks up quite well after that. (^_^)y

Wow. Can someone confirm this? I'd thought console players were just whining over little glitches, I didn't realize things were this bad.

The last game I remember being so buggy the publisher actually pulled it was Arkham Knight.

I gotta call BS on their saying the console failures are due to the last-gen hardware. I'm rocking a PC with all parts being no less than 5 years old. If that's not last-gen, I don't know what is. No, it's more they totally ignored their console ports.

I'm half ready to say that the 'last-gen' versions of the console games are the same code, just with settings dialed down for FPS and no platform specific QC. Really, I'd bet they got the game for the PS5, wound down the laggy stuff, and say it's for PS4. No consideration taken for the actual platform.

I would forgive a botch like this if it were Beta and still pending a release version. But, at retail, there's no way something like this should pass QC. (>_<)

I was looking over the data shards I collected, and came across one called Corporate Wars: The Musical. I don't remember exactly where I found it in the game. It's a synopsis of a musical version of Romeo and Juliet, set in the 4th corporate war. At the end, they have the lyrics to a song called Andrew's Lament.

Of course, I had to pick up my guitar and try to put some chords to it. I ended up playing it to the tune of The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald.

The 2nd verse of the 2nd line doesn't scan easily as it's written, but if you sing, "and I am nothing but down" instead of "and I, I'm nothing but down" it scans better. I think I'm might be a typo. There are a lot of typos in this game.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Andrew's Lament, from the data shard Corporate Wars: The Musical
Standard tuning, no capo, key of Em
Code:
  Asus2 Em
I dreamed a dream of an endless sea,
    G D Asus2
Arasaka at the helm,
   Asus2 Em
Today my dreams are nothing but mist,
    G D Asus2
And I, I'm nothing but down.

  Asus2 Em
My eyes wisned never to see again,
             G D Asus2
Covered in a seafoam veil of grey,
  Asus2 Em
I now see only the black abyss,
          G D Asus2
My chrome heart gnarled in pain.

  Asus2 Em
Arasaka Corp. bought my soul,
      G D Asus2
In exchange for blood and mourn,
  Asus2 Em
The strength in me has forever died,
      G D Asus2
And a corporat was born!

I dunno if it has to be only one or the other. I mean yeah, your computer is using last-gen hardware from five years ago....but it was REALLY GOOD hardware five years ago. The PS4's hardware was....not.

Fair enough. It remains true that consoles do have narrow platform specific intricacies. Considering how difficult it is to set up backwards compatibility, I still say they missed the mark hardcore.

Also... Looks like the game suffers from fantasyarmoritis! =^-^=
