Also, it seems suspicious that there are so many "freezer failures". Other Half has worked in GMP companies for the last two decades, most that need freezers for cell cultures, and not once in those two decades has any freezer at any of those companies failed.

I call shenanigans.

It is easier to blame the hardware than to admit ones own stupidity human errors.

This, assuming the original report is correct, makes no sense:

The vaccine is licenced on very strict conditions, and failure to adhere to those conditions mean that it cannot be used. The defendant knew this, which is why he deliberately left them out of the fridge overnight, thus deliberately rendering them as useless -- that is, not able to be used to vaccinate people -- as if he had contaminated them with poison.

The damage was done after they'd been left out of the fridge for too long. That's why he took them out of the fridge in the first place.

What's to be tested?

So I just read a thread on Faceboop about how teachers in the Los Gatos district (california), were all told to lie about their professions and jump to the head of the line for vaccines. The supernintendo and the union pushed for this so they could open all the schools immediately.

Not sure how they did this, since you have to show proof of employment, as far as I know. Someone has some 'spainin' to do.
A county in Northeast Georgia has lost vaccine privilege because they were vaccinating teachers and not the elderly, like they were supposed to. [Also their friends].

Meanwhile, spouse and I are high risk category and should be eligible for vaccines, but have to go to the hospital because Publix is only allowed to vaccinate over 65 and healthcare workers.

We just need our county to get more vaccines before we can even try.

I hope he loses his license to practice. I don't think I'd feel safe getting my meds from someone who doesn't believe in science.
I'd imagine that there's no question about his losing his licence now he's been caught sabotaging the vaccines (and I assume he's being prosecuted for causing them intentional damage), but I'm wondering about how he got one in the first place.

I would not be surprised if he was radicalized by Q or something else. Seen it happen to others, so....

I think I've said this before, but it is astonishing how many health-care workers, even direct care providers like nurses, are anti-vaxx, and low-key anti-science and anti-medicine. Astonishing and chilling.

I have no idea how many of these are people who got licensed and then later were fooled into believing the BS, versus how many of them believed it to begin with and decided to fake their way through school with the aim of "protecting" people from scientific "lies". But either way, it's pretty clear that being educated is neither a preventative nor a cure for this kind of thinking.

I suspect that people from particular religious traditions -- particularly Pentecostalists and Charismatics of various denominations -- must get very used to what I can only call "double-think."

That is, they adhere to a belief system that's very important to them, and to which they are to varying degrees committed, as part of which they have to do all sorts of things they must know seem somewhat unhinged to everyone else, and profess belief in things that everyone else considers nonsense, and much of the time they must know it's nonsense and that they're not really speaking in tongues but putting on a performance for the others, but carry on regardless because it's expected in that community, and while they don't believe, particularly, other loved ones do, or say they do, and if you leave the community, you lose all your friends and most of your family.

So I can see how people manage to juggle the two world-views, but the strain of doing that must be immense, and if you've already trained yourself to believe things you know can't be possible, then you're that much more susceptible to other nonsense, too.

(I must stress I'm not dismissing religious belief itself, but I'm very mistrustful of a certain kind of publicly performative religious faith, because I think it's very harmful to the believer).

West Virginia now has an online registration form to schedule vaccines, which I filled out last week. Other than a confirmation that I'd registered the two of us, there's no information on when we'll be contacted. Fingers crossed it's not a long wait.
I was talking to a friend of mine in Ohio today. She's in her late 40s or early 50s, I think, and took her mother, who is in her 80s and very frail, for her first shot this week.

After they'd given mother the shot, they told my friend that they had some doses to spare if she'd like one, and they've booked her in for her booster shot when she brings her mother back for hers.

She said it gave her a sore arm for the rest of the day, but otherwise she was fine.

Wow. There's no registration site for people in California, as far as I can tell.
How does one find such animals? I keep looking on the Kaiser site and they keep saying "We don't even have enough for our staff, let alone the proles who don't work here, so stop asking."

So, my first contact point would be dept of health. That's probably your best shot for information.

West Virginia is a shining example of how to do it. I've seen numerous articles lauding them on the high number of shots given so far. Also, they along with North Dakota are the only two states NOT to sign contracts with CVS for distribution.

I have a friend out there who registered at her county site. Here's the link for her, but your county should have a webpage for you to sign up on.

It's gonna happen.

Rep. Stephen Lynch (D-MA) has tested positive for the coronavirus, after receiving both doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine, according to multiple reports.

The news of Lynch’s diagnosis is a reminder to those who have recently received vaccinations to remain especially vigilant in the two weeks following the administration of the second dose, and to closely follow vaccine guidelines.

It takes about 4 weeks after the second injection before your immunity is at peak level. That is normal.
The flue shots usually need 6 weeks to reach the optimum protection.
And....... 90% protection (which is really high) means still 10% chance you can get infected and show symptoms.
To compare flue shots offer normally about 60% protection.
Huge advantage, vaccinated people often get a lot milder symptoms if infected.

A lot depends on in how good shape your immune system is.
Underlying other diseases and age play an important role as well in how high your personal protection figures are.

The US number of people with at least one shot (25.2 million yesterday) is about to cross the number of positive COVID cases (26.85 million), so we are making progress of sorts. Shots per day started slow, but has steadily ramped up, reaching 1.32 million/day average over the last week. So I don't think it will be a long delay for those of us with medical issues.
