That would give you two different populations as the antibodies would still be present afterward, right?
Usually? I still see people speculating about how long the immunity lasts, if there’s more than one strain, and so forth. Some viruses lead to a lifetime immunity but others don’t.

If you start at the date of 1,000 cases and check how many days until approximate doubling, it was 3 days for a while to double. In the final 4 days on that table (starting 3/18), it changed to 2 days to double! Because Trump killed the pandemic directorate and then starved the CDC, we were/are unprepared for this exponential disaster.
Yeah, I had trouble fitting a linear model to it - I did not see why, but now that you mention it: Indeed! The growth seems to grow. That curve is not exponential, it is beyond exponential growth. (BUT DON'T PANIC! I bet it will go back to exponential once we habe more data/estimates - remember T. did not want to see cases in early stage)

Primarily of interest to Brits, at least at the moment, but

In the comments, people are speculating about why they can't use existing designs, but I suspect it's simply to do with the types of engines, pumps, control systems and components they're set up to produce.

Patents may be another issue.

The Food and Drug Administration approved the first rapid test for the novel coronavirus over the weekend. The test, made by the biotechnology company Cepheid, returns results in around 45 minutes and does not need to be processed in a lab.

But the test should primarily be used in emergency rooms and hospitals, not in doctors’ offices, David Persing, chief medical officer of Cepheid, told Stat News. In a hospital, it could help streamline care for sick people — knowing someone has or does not have COVID-19 quickly will let doctors decide how much protective equipment is needed to treat them, for example. “This is not a test for the worried well,” Persing said.

Patents may be another issue.
Legally, yes. However a company that did that would be a pariah after the crisis

They may well be, though I see that a consortium of British companies is also working on making ventilators for the NHS:

British manufacturers will produce 30,000 emergency ventilators to help the NHS deal with the Covid-19 crisis.

A collaboration between the aviation, car and medical equipment industries aims to deliver 5,000 machines in the next fortnight and a further 25,000 in a matter of months.

The medical regulator is working with the manufacturers and has drawn up specifications for Rapidly Manufactured Ventilator Systems (RMVS). They must be lightweight, robust and “not require more than 30 minutes training for a doctor with some experience of ventilator use”.

The Ventilator Challenge UK consortium includes the aviation companies Airbus and GKN, the Formula One team McLaren, Siemens and the medical equipment manufacturers Smiths and Penlon. Clinicians have been closely involved in discussions in the past week.

Phase one involves
It could also just be Sir James Dyson being Sir James Dyson, I guess -- he's always been something of an Elon Musk with the volume turned down.

ETA: More on British ventilators (primarily of interest to Brits, I guess)

Can he face civil action for this?

Better yet, can he go to jail once he leaves office?
Yes he can, just impeach him over it, and let legal action to follow up. But wait till idiotic behavior swings senate odds - one idiot already self removed himself from the Senate.

It just occured to me I might need to warn you about overusing hand sanitizer. Something I saw no one doing so far.

Our skin is naturally protected by a layer of fatty acids inhabited by an army of micriobiotic symbionts - this is a human body's first line of defence. Sure, hand sanitiozers kills the germs, but it also removes the acids and symbionts. It's like a tactical nuke - if you think you might habe a high chance of contact you can use it, but cream up your hands after use and do not immediately reexpose yourself. If you do not think you might have contacted it and just want to go sure, use soap instead.
