Weird, the US counts new Corona cases quicker than election votes.
There's no electoral medical college to worry over.

However, I hope this election proves the states as a whole are not really 21st century compatible. At least when it comes to managing election counts.

I don't feel any state, even our most populace state (California), should be sitting at ~75% votes counted on the Thursday after the election*. There are efficient and secure ways to do the work. Are they using them?

*Unless they're sitting on a vast bundle of uncounted mail-in votes. Which as we know, screw you Trump administration!

The only thing I can think of for why California is being so slow is their mail in ballots have until the 10th to arrive. So some precincts may be slacking off until then and will pull an all-nighter at the end. They aren't the only ones. Alaska has been sitting at 56%. OK, it's a physically large state with a small population, and serious weather challenges. But you would think they could plan for that and at least radio in results pending dog sled or whatever arriving with the official results. Nevada and Arizona haven't budged for over a day. My own state of Georgia at least has made steady progress. They are down to like 1.2% left to count, and only 9,600 votes separating the presidential totals. North Carolina hit 95% the first night, and since then nothing. Manhattan has been stuck at 60%. They have no excuse, it's only 12x2 miles in size.

yes here in Germany
at least on the internet pages of some big media, the posts in the reader commentary columns are exploding ... all carried by the hope that corona will hopefully soon be over.
Understandable, but maybe we shouldn't cheer too much now and wait a little bit longer with the cheering

seems to be the week of hope:
first Trump was fired

and now at least the hope for a vaccine has risen
