Reading a bit further in that thread led to this, a YouTube video of what is purported to be him singing a song waxing poetic about the old south, making small talk with General Lee, Gone with the Wind and a building that looks as if he wants it to be possibly portrayed as a plantation?

Around 10 months ago, so before today's happenings someone commented on his video that he should play "Marching through Georgia" as that is a song about the liberation of the south. His response was, "No it's about yankees and carpetbaggers on their murderous invasion of the South".

Mayor Levar Stoney's decree came weeks after Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam ordered the removal of the most prominent and imposing statue along the avenue: that of Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee, which sits on state land. The removal of the Lee statue has been stalled pending the resolution of several lawsuits.

I know Adams has been a rwnj for a while now, but I never liked Dilbert so no big loss. Sinfest, man I watched it go from a light-hearted slightly misogynistic strip to going way too far the other way, and while i gave it time to see if he was trying to poke fun at the extremes, it was obvious he'd stopped being sane and I turned that one off years ago now. The SWERF/TERF BS made me want to barf.

It was around 2000, when he published a book that was less about Dilbert than a monument to Scott's "brilliance", and included whole chapters about how we should consider various wacky pseudociences as useful tools. I don't recall the name now (The Dilbert Future maybe? The Dilbert Principle? I honestly can't recall and can't be assed looking it up) but it was not the product of a healthy mind.

His later pro-fascist screeds were not surprising.

Random question: What are they going to do with all these statues?

Some will likely go to museums.

Some will be melted down.

Some will be "rescued" by simian-minded people with too much extra money and some space to sit it in.

Some could pop-up on Craigslist or eBay.

One or two have been moved to graveyards, but almost all of them are still in storage. Museums don't want them - upkeep cost and it's hard to frame them in an appropriate manner when they're the 800 pound elephant [intentionally] in the room. The storage locations are hidden, for obvious reasons. The one now relocated to a graveyard was "returned" to the Daughters of the Confederacy or some such, another organization has pledged to put them back up if returned.

There are a lot of museums across the states that focus on the Civil War. In regards to one specific statue, there's one right in Richmond. I'm sure they could make some sense of it.

Depends on who owns them. Some of them are privately owned, like by the Daughters of the Confederacy. The others could be melted down and recast, or just sold for scrap.

Someone on FB was saying they should make minatures of these statues that people could put in their yards. I pointed out that 1) she lives in the middle of nowhere, so nobody except the cows would ever see it, and 2) I want a little statue scene of Lee surrendering to Grant at Appomattox.
