Joined a couple days ago. What are some good places to hit up? And is there a Grammarly resistance group? I learned English grammar in high school, don't need another subscription and 50 cringy smarmy advertising impressions desperately aimed at 20 somethings wearing H&M dress shirts on a daily basis.

Bluesky boom worries Chinese media
Chinese state media is reportedly troubled by the latest exodus of X users flocking to Bluesky. State outlets, which put considerable resources into amassing millions of followers on Elon Musk’s social media platform — including by buying ads, deploying bots, and hiring influencers — have recently seen their growth plateau.

The growing popularity of Bluesky, which has a largely liberal base and harder-to-manipulate algorithm, has sparked “worried chatter within Chinese state media circles,” a former Xinhua and China Daily employee wrote in his newsletter. He predicted the accounts will migrate to Bluesky, though it may take time. For now, the sector’s focus has shifted back to domestic, Mandarin-language channels and platforms like Bilibili, WeChat, and Douyin, the Chinese version of TikTok.

There is some irony since there was some suggestion that Musk should buy SL.

I'm liking Bluesky a lot at this point. I was much on Twitter back before the Muskovite takeover, and it seems that most of the people I used to follow way back when, are all on Bluesky.

The look and feel is of course very familiar, which is nice.

I do find, though, that I feel very tentative in my participation, remembering how bad things got on Twitter, once Musk decided to sink it.

I write posts, then delete them before posting because they seem either unhelpful or unkind. I don't follow a lot of people because I'm not there enough to keep up with my timeline. (Every time I add a person, my timeline explodes with unread posts.)

BUT... I am starting to consider Bluesky as one of my news sources, and am feeling as though I'm part of a community, so... to sum up, I'm in, but not all day long.

Ok, so maybe its just me, because I never DM people on anybof these platforms aside from family.

But what the heck is it with people who DM immidiately after you follow them. This really feels like its just some sort of spam trap.

I just ignore them completely.
