So there's still fun stuff happening tonight. The Integrity capsule has now separated from the ICPS, the "second stage" basically. That stage's engine was used to raise Integrity into a stable Earth orbit. But, they're staying very close to the ICPS for a little while longer. The crew - well, pilot Victor Glover - will now practice "proximity operations" with it. They won't actually physically dock with it, that's not possible, but the ICPS has a target painted on the side of it that Integrity can use to simulate a docking approach. They'll do a couple of these, coming as close as 15 meters and holding position there for a bit. Once the "prox ops" are done, they'll turn around and leave the ICPS behind.

They are just leaving the Insane Clown Possee Ship in orbit?

This just leads to Jugaloos building rockets. Again.

Don't they use magnets?
Yes, the trick is to point the magnet at the moon, so it pulls you that direction.

But the Moon is made of cheese. Magnets aren't attracted to cheese. Mice are.

Don't concentrate on the magnet, or you will miss all that heavenly glory!

Many of you are missing the close connection between white trash* and fireworks.
Robert Goddard, the father of American Rocketry, was born in Worcester, Massachusetts. Some might consider Worcester to be a white trash zone in New England. I mean I wouldn't consider it so, but others might.

I'm happy (?) to report that Artemis II has not gone in the shitter.

There was a bit of toilet trouble on NASA's Artemis 2 mission to the moon
There was a little potty problem on NASA's Artemis 2 moon ship.

Within hours of launching four astronauts on NASA's Artemis 2 mission around the moon, its crew reported a glitch in what may have been the most anticipated new creature comfort of their Orion spacecraft: their space toilet.

Artemis 2 mission specialist Christina Koch noted an issue starting up part of the Orion capsule's toilet — which NASA calls the Universal Waste Management System — that deals with urine collection.
"The toilet fan is reported to be jammed," NASA spokesperson Gary Jordan said during live mission commentary. "Now the ground teams are coming up with instructions on how to get into the fan and clear that area to revive the toilet for the mission."

No - it will eventually de-orbit and burn up.
I was going to say "just like Insane Clown Posse," but they kept drawing crowds untl Violent J's serious heart condition caused them to stop touring. So I won't say that.

It's funny because I had also considered ending my post with that, and now I'm glad I didn't. 😇

The crew commander Reid Wiseman tried out the exercise machine for the first time and reported that he was able to get quite a decent workout with it. The astronauts are supposed to do a 30-minute exercise program each day during the thing. It's a little funny though, the vehicle is small enough that anyone using the exercise machine moves the whole capsule a little bit, and this was visible on the external camera feed - there's a camera on the tip of one of the solar panels that is pointed back at the spaceship, and the view was wobbling a little bit while Wiseman was on the machine.

This is Jeremy Hansen, the Canadian crew member, explaining the machine which is a flywheel-type resistance device:

And some video of the device in testing:

They've just completed the TLI, or "translunar injection" burn. They've officially left Earth orbit and committed to a flyaround of the Moon!

They still have the fuel and capacity to make course corrections if they need to, but they shouldn't have to - this was the last actually scheduled engine burn of the whole mission because it doesn't just set up the lunar flyby, it also perfectly sets up their re-entry ten days from now. So it's basically now just coasting from here all the way to the Pacific Ocean.
