My 2 L$:
If you want to try to revive the place with more Second Live activity, I think it is inevitable to get SL back in the name.
SLUniverse.com is still far more branded than virtualverse.one IMHO.
Maybe a relaunch at the SL21B?

And very important IMO: You might regroup the forums directory on the landing page before that.
SL discussions are tucked away too far in the landing page structure.
If this site has to become more about SL again, it should be more visible at arrival, I guess.
Second Life is now the 10th spot in the list. And only 1 of the 40 items listed on the landing page.
A new or first time returning user does not get the impression that Second Life is the core topic of this site.

A lot will ride on us oldbies too.
When we get new people in, we must be welcoming and helpful. Otherwise the first post will be the last one of the newb most of the times.

ADDED: But I guess, it will be very hard to pull this site (renamed or not) back on a more steady Second Life course again.
Just hit the "New post" and see where this site is all about in reality at the moment.

After 6 years more or less I'd say it doesn't matter -any cachet or brand recognition that goes with "SLUniverse" is probably negligible at this point.

If you voted no, what was you reason?
I worry that a great deal will be lost, in terms of our various discussions and links to and within them. If all that happened for the name change were literally just a name/url change, I'm good. However, I am concerned that it cannot be so. Because SLUniverse was literally failing in terms of forum software, the change and consequent disruption were a necessary misfortune. However, this is not necessary; SLUniverse redirects to virtualverse.one which is all that is necessary from a marketing viewpoint, methinks.

Yes, the original change was a technical and personal one. SLU had grown too large and honestly too stressful for me to deal with. When I shut it down, I had no intention of doing another site. Yet for some reason it is in my bones to do a site like this, so I couldn't let go completely. I suppose now I am just feeling some nostalgia over SLU, as it was part of my life for 15 years and a large part of the community here were there.

That said, it is just a name and your point is valid. SLUniverse.com already points here, it always has. I think reorganizing the site and being more active with it will have more of an effect than a not so simple name change. Even though the vote here is overwhelmingly yes, I am still not convinced going backward is the right move.

Prenup. Written back when he could still hire good lawyers.
I thought I had read about a (rumored) post-nuptial agreement in which she improved her position (financially and for their son). Her duties then came to include looking more like a First Lady and accompanying him more during his presidency. Since he's no longer president (Thanks to all Biden voters!), she doesn't have to do First Lady duties anymore. Were I she, it would give me great satisfaction to exist as a rebuke to his ambitions (both political and criminal).

Nostolgia is literally the only reason I can see to do it -and that's fine. Like you said, it was part of your life for 15 years.
I don't see much of any other reason, myself. I doubt the bump in traffic would be signifigant and I don't see people sticking around after they looky-loo to see that slu is 'back' (in truth, never went away).

So imo no so much right or wrong as much as 'not worth the hassle' -imo, though.

VirtualVerse has always had this "I guess metaverse.com was taken" bitcoin-facebook-meta coattails feel to me.

Name change alone will not drive in people. That is for sure.
Only reason would be a marker in time: 'From here on let's concentrate on Second Life a bit more again'.
Just like the name change to virtualverse.one was a marker in time IMHO for: 'From here on more attention for other worlds and games'.

Two bakeries in town. One is named Jones Family Bakery the other Williams Food and Such.
Which of the too will get the most visits from new people looking for bread do you recon?
I'm in favor to name what you sell.

Far more important than the name is branding, get the name out there (again) and that will be indeed the hard part.
Second Life is still around and holding its ground, but there is not much to directly discuss about very often these days.
Most residents are still active oldbies and returning people after years of absence. Who just have discussed it all before, several times.

The number of regulars on the official forums, that concentrates on SL solemnly, is also slowly decreasing.

Gee, thanks for your helpful feedback. The name was an evolution of the universe part of SlUniverse, with a focus on virtual worlds and vr. It was also named years before the current metaverse crypto bro web3 hype, and before Facebook rebranded. There is nothing coattail riding about the name.
