Something that was said in a previous thread asking for help has made me think a lot about this site. I people think I should go back to using SLUniverse for the name of this site. I still own the domain. At the time I made VVO, I wanted a change, but other virtual worlds have not really caught on. I am uncertain what to do - I would love your feedback. I rarely use a poll, but I figured some people may not want to reply directly. Thanks for your feedback.
Not-sure

For history's sake I'll note VVO started on Sep 19, 2018, or around 5 1/2 years ago.

I am hesitant to vote having not thought this through as a possibility. Thinking out loud, SLU is an old and beloved brand that we still say in reference to the site, virtualverse, which is not stupid, encompasses a broader cross section of communities from other worlds including hobby groups, political parties, and religious factions. As has been said already, either works for me, and I trust Cristiano's community building instincts to make the best decision in the interest of drawing new and former participants.

Most of the posts here are about politics, SL, and pets / animals. I suggest trying to make it more personal with a forum for hobbies (excluding SL and video games). There could be one for music where people showcase themselves playing their instruments. Or writing where people give examples of parts of their stories or other writings, and their successes and difficulties finding receptive readers. Or dancing. Or Scrabble. Who knows? I want to know more about personal interests here.

The beauty of this board is that Cristiano can call it whatever he wants and it can still cover Second Life, technology, cats, goofy memes, and whatever else people want to talk about. Here's another thought: I know there are older SLU members floating around out there. Wouldn't including "SLU" in the title draw former members back?

Question 2: Do we want them back?

I kid.

From a marketing perspective, I think for users of virtual worlds - and of course specifically for SL Users - the name SLU is meaningful, no matter if you know the old SLU: Everybody in this niche can recognize that it's SL-related. VVO is not as self-explaining, not even for people from that user-niche. I am still speaking of SLU, too, and I am still getting surprised reactions from SL-Oldbies like "oh I thought they shut down". It also helps to identify it as alternative/competition to the official SL forums. So yeah, not just out of nostalgia, my vote is for changing it back.

Of course. Cris is trying to expand the reach of the board and he can do whatever he likes. I offered my thoughts which he can accept or disregard as he sees fit.

This might be a question that has not yet been thought through, but would all of vvo disappear like SLU did, or would vvo's content migrate to SLU or ................????

If you voted no, what was you reason?

While the Metaverse and other VWs have kind of floundered, we do have a lot of non SL discussion like Politics and AI.

It's kind of like how I name my never updated SL blog "All Around the Grid.". Because yeah, it's a reference to SL's Grid, it's flexible enough to just reference "The Internet" (as a sort of reference to Tron) .

PRS was the most active forum on SLU. I take your point, though. I went in this direction to broaden things, and it does give me pause in thinking about changing names again. On one hand, SLU is better branding and has a storied history. On the other hand, I started over for a reason. Maybe going backward is not the right move, even if it feels comfortable.

Well Sluniverse.com was a well known brand; VVO is not.

Haven't you always asked yourself: "Science tells since decades that the name Jehovah for god is wrong and it is Jahwe in reality, so why is it still Jehova's witnesses?" Brand recognition, of course.
I had not considered the religious connotations. SATAN'S LEWD UNIVERSE.
