Juliana Stratton is a Democrat running for the Senate in Illinois. And holy crap she has a beautiful and simple campaign ad. Which I assume is not airing on local media outlets...

The nastiest contest right now seems to be the one involving Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton and Sen. John Cornyn.

Paxton’s daughter defends him against Cornyn’s attacks
The daughter of Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton (R) is coming to her father’s defense amid political ad attacks targeting his U.S. Senate campaign.

Paxton is running to unseat Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas) and will face off against the senator and Rep. Wesley Hunt (R-Texas) in the March 3 primary.

The attorney general has been negatively portrayed in several campaign ads, which point to his past adultery. Paxton’s wife filed for divorce last July after the attorney general had an extramarital affair.
The GOP is not liking this contest, at all.

Republicans are freaking out over Texas Senate race
With just days until Texas’ primary, Republicans in Washington are growing more alarmed that their increasingly vicious intraparty contest could cost them a must-win Senate seat.

Sen. John Cornyn appears to be headed to an expensive and nasty 10-week runoff against Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, with a strong chance that Paxton wins the nomination even after national Republicans spent months airing his dirty laundry all over the Texas airwaves in an effort to boost Cornyn.
“Honestly, if you look at the polling in a general election setting, I don’t think it’s outside the realm of possibility that the seat [flips], depending on who the Democrats nominate,” said Senate Majority Leader John Thune, when asked about the possibility that Republicans could lose the race if Cornyn, who he endorsed, is not the party’s nominee.

If Cornyn loses the primary, Senate Republicans worry they could be forced to spend hundreds of millions of dollars that could otherwise go toward key battleground races in expensive states like North Carolina, Georgia or Michigan, complicating their path toward holding Senate control.
There'll likely be no better fight this year between a sitting senator and a total asshole.

Yeah its not, but she is running ads. Raja "My name is too long for ads" has alsp been blitzing ads.

I didn't pick either in the Primary but I hope she wims because she comes off better than Raja. But I would also like her to stay where she is local, so I picked a more progressive candidate.

A lot of the Dem Senate candidates were pretty good, the House ones in my district were all kind of meh. But any of them would be better than Mary "Hitler War Right" Miller, who is probably going to keep her seat.

In 2025, Texas ignited the national redistricting fire that has swept across the country from California to Virginia. The Texas redistricting was initiated by President Trump requesting that Texas create five new Republican U.S. House seats for the midterm elections. However, the resulting plan will almost certainly not yield five new Republican seats. It will most likely add only two seats, and in a perfect electoral storm for Democrats, Republicans could actually lose seats.
The Houston and Dallas redistricting was a more traditional tactic of concentrating Democratic-leaning voters into one district. In these two cases, the new maps consolidated Democratic, heavily African American neighborhoods into Districts 18 and 30, eliminating at least one and possibly two seats currently held by African American Democrats. These two changes will likely result in two additional Republican seats.

However, in South Texas, Republican mapmakers may have made a crucial error. They assumed that the swing by Latino voters to their party in the 2024 elections was a permanent realignment and would carry over into the 2026 midterms.
/me speaks in mock Arrested Development voice over

The realignment was not permanent.

BECAUSE!!!! ...because it annoys some people. Some people have told me they feel like it makes it more condescending or too flamboyant when I put emphasis in capitals or stuff like that! I still do it sometimes of course.

Is Hex still around? Or did I block Hex on accident and forget. I basically don't block anyone.

Senate fight in North Carolina:

Former Gov. Roy Cooper won the Democratic primary, and former RNC chair Michael Whatley got the Republican win, both trouncing their competitors. Although at 92% of the Democratic vote, the former governor did more of the trouncing.

One takeaway I get is, North Carolina Democrats showed up to vote at a 27% greater number than Republicans.

There also was a Senate fight in Arkansas.

Hallie Shoffner resoundingly won the Democrat's vote in that state. But it'll be a difficult, uphill battle for her against Tom Cotton.

What happened in Dallas County was a royal clusterfuck of epic proportions. Just think of what November is going to be like.
