As I said, I really think that it's best to concentrate on what Trump's doing now, and how to stop him, and to worry about how Biden voted twenty or thirty years ago after the election.

I think Biden is terrible, probably just as racist as Trump, probably just as predatory towards women as Trump is, and just as stupid. The difference is he is an idiot who has experience, and an idiot who can appoint smart people to a position of power. Remember, RBG is gonna probably die, and that means Biden appoints her replacement.

I didn't say I was going to vote for Trump, or that I wanted for more years of trump. Try actually listening to what I say instead of making shit up. Right. That had never occurred to me before. Because up until you pointed it out, I was just thrilled with only having two choices, neither of which was who I wanted. Gosh, what a pickle we're in.

Like Daniel said, there are other ways to influence those in power now and after the election.

Sometimes it comes off like you believe everyone is dumb and can’t understand that they’re getting themselves into by voting for Biden, or the dems. But many DO understand, but when it comes to the actual election, the time for criticizing must be put aside. At least, here it should be because most HERE already know his failings in the past, and what to be wary about. You’re not opening anyone’s eyes.

Having said that, you have had a lot of shit thrown at you too, so mostly I’ve just stayed out of it. I’ll continue to read your posts (but not your YouTube links, ha) but please keep in mind you’re not bringing up things that many don’t already know.

Anyway, that’s my 2 cents, hope you take it as well meaning.

I do take it as well-meaning, Isabeau, and I thank you for engaging respectfully. I recognize that, yes, the choice has been made. I hate the choice, that's plain. I have ignored this thread and most of the forum for a while now, which I'm sure makes some people happy. I don't believe that everyone is dumb. But there is more than a good bit of wishful thinking, given the 50 years of what we know. And even in the last year.

I am not going to argue with anything that is true but saying things like Biden won't constantly lie? Yeah, well, I will quibble that point a bit. I bother to talk his record, since we have 50 years of it, to discourage such wishful thinking. We need to be just as vigilant of Biden because his instincts have been on display for said 50 years and they're not all good. I feel like people want to go back to having a cursory, mostly ignorant attention to politics because their tribe will be in control. I am deathly afraid that they won't hold their party accountable for their complicity in foisting bad policies on this country and not representing the people's needs, leading to worse than Trump. When I see things like people saying Biden is the best leader, I want to barf. That, to me, is part of the problem. We can't have the political instincts of a dog.

If you want to bypass anything I post, I don't take that personally. I just hate when people make shit up.

ETA: By your logic there was never any point whatsoever.

Last election cycle we saw the end result of effective meddling - key there being "effective" - something that was unheard of until that time and was the result of external influence as well as decades long smears.

If you need more than what reality offers then no one can help you - ever.

Cast your vote, hope for the best, plan for the worst (if possible) and move on.

Find one fucking speech by Biden using racist dog-whistles and/or praising neo-NAZIs. How many fucking times has Biden been sued for discrimination in employment or rentals? Biden is not the strongest voice against racism, but he worked closely with the first African-American president and with the Congressional Black Caucus.

Biden has had complaints that he has been too touchy in a way that has made people uncomfortable. He has publicly re-evaluated his personal approach and promised to respect people's space. Only one woman has alleged that he made any sexually inappropriate actions, and she has been less than credible. Trump has dozens of allegations of sexually inappropriate behavior, including rape of a minor. He has publicly cheated on every wife he has had. He has made illegal payments to silence women. He has bragged on tape about groping women.

Biden may have a folksy charm that served him well in a blue-collar district, but he has been an effective negotiator and is well versed in the details of the legislative process and product. He got a law degree from Syracuse without wealthy parents. Trump bragged that he aced the test to determine if a person is senile.

Biden was not my first choice. But what he is is a competent career politician who worked his way into office the hard way, without family money to grease the skids. He knows how government works and wants it to work for the people.

Saying they are the same or only slightly different is what the fucking Russian propaganda machine wants people to think to depress voting and give us if not more Trump, at least more disfunction. It is a tactic to shake confidence in liberal democracy and justify authoritarian rule. If you really belive this, you are a fucking idiot and a Russian pawn. Biden is not perfect, but he is not even close to Trump in any way.

Of all the comparisons you can make, claiming Biden is the same as the drowning government in the bathtub crowd is one of the crazier ones.
