Because the information in the tweet was intentionally deceptive. The eyeroll was for the deception, not necessarily you.
I don’t know if she’s a Russian asset, but she’s really, really susceptible to Russian propaganda. She is a crazy huge Putin fan and Assange apologist. She has changed her story multiple times and made countless contradictory claims. She went from bragging about how much she admired Biden to the current story of assault. She went from expressly saying she was never sexualized to this. She’s had three different versions of why she left her position. She lied about Time’s Up turning her away. And, listening to how she explains the assault happening doesn’t make sense to me. Unfortunately, because she’s already brought her own credibility into question my benefit of the doubt is pretty narrow.
Also, she knows that because she shopped the first version of her story around to every news outlet when the Biden story broke last year, it creates problems for any outlet that previously published her because libel applies if they publish a story they know to be false. But she (and other opportunists) are painting this as “being silenced.” And her trying to scrub all the past writing that contradicts her current statements looks really bad.
I could go on. But, really, sincerely, the more I look into this the more I’m hoping for her sake either this actually does go away quietly if she’s lying or other women come forward if she’s telling the truth. Victims can absolutely be problematic and still be victims, but this woman is a walking red flag.
Personally it pisses me off that a bunch of BernieBots are using her to weaponise “Believe Women” as if that movement was invented to mean “believe women blindly.” That shit is disgusting.
