2020 Democratic Primary

Wasn’t Biden chosen by Obama as VP because he was a sort of moderate republican who would be able to bring in votes from those who didn’t like how, didn’t recognize themselves in, the Republican Party after the Bush years? What is it that people like about him? I’m genuinely asking.

I know not many here love him, but it seems like many think he represents a good moderate Democrat representative. What am I missing? Is he better than I give him credit for.

I admit, maybe the way he “repulses” me is purely emotional. Maybe there are good things about his past political actions I know nothing about being from outside the US.

Biden is a mixed bag. He used to be really attractive when he was young. His general personality was pretty charming before he started to lose it. He has run for President twice before 2020. He played an unusual, but important, part in the final workings of getting marriage equality on it's way to victory. He has a wife that endorses swallowing. So he is saying here that he has absolutely no empathy for the younger generation who are trying to make things better because his generation (including himself) were fighting for civil rights, women’s rights, (and “finished it”?) Am I understanding correctly?

While there weren’t many questions on what the candidates were proposing to address climate change during the debates, they do have “plans”. I know that plans don’t equal actions, but I do think what they propose show how seriously they take it.

Hubman says he saw something that made him think Jimmy Carter might have encouraged Mayor Pete (how the hell do you spell or say his last name?) to drop out, so the party can start to unite. My take is that he basically got his ass handed to him in South Carolina which is a bellwether indicator of how things would go for him in the south - especially the deep south. He might could win the nomination without the south. He could NOT win the Presidency without the south, and ultimately that is the goal here.

I don't disagree with any of this, which is why Biden has -- until recently -- been at the bottom of my list of acceptable candidates, as in "Dear god, I hope we don't have to scrape the bottom of the barrel." My opinion of Biden hasn't changed. What's changed for me is that Sanders -- for other reasons -- is sinking both in my estimation and in my projections for his appeal across the nation.

Disagree. HRC lost the rust belt, not the south. The south is expected to go to Trump. We shouldn't measure a Democrat's success there, because a Democrat won't win the south...and they don't have to win the south.
