Living as I do in a red state, I've had this conversation several times over the past year. Usually ending with me going "WAT" and leaving (since I am not a bartender and can do this).

Someone said to my brother a few months ago (in regards to his mask), "still living in fear?"
My brother said something on the order of, "Well you could say that, since I have some high risk patients and I'm afraid of killing them."
I don't think the guy got it through his head that COVID can be lethal but at least he shut up.
Last time I talked to that brother, he remarked that up where he lives a lot of people are "over" COVID, even though they know it's real.
COVID, of course, isn't over them.
