I think a lot of us started out wanting someone else, but huge pockets of this country are in a state of being a sort of “walking wounded” and they are starving for empathy back in government. I would have given anything for that to have taken the form of a Harris/Castro ticket, but I understand why Biden is winning the day.But is that what we want anymore?
I get all that. But my question was a little more deeper. My concern is that after 4 years of Trump, there may be no going back to "what a president is supposed to {fill in verb} like."I think a lot of us started out wanting someone else, but huge pockets of this country are in a state of being a sort of “walking wounded” and they are starving for empathy back in government. In many ways it’s kind of a moot question, though. We can only recognize what we think is happening in the here and now. But I don’t think the Trump phenomenon is the last of its kind, nor will it be limited to the presidency. In most facets of society celebrity is taking over the spaces previously reserved for experience and expertise. There‘s never any “going back” as priorities shift from generation to generation. What will the priorities become as the “always online“ generations age into power? No idea.I get all that. But my question was a little more deeper. Personally, being a Philip K. Dick fan...I’ve read too much sci-fi and cyberpunk to lay odds on that.
Yes it is, because he will have the assistance of the country’s top experts, he is honest, he is kind, he is tender hearted, and he has overwhelming Black support. We have had enough excitement. But is that what we want anymore?
IT'S A SPIT TAKE!!!Did you forget about the food subforums?
That would still be the case were Bernie Sanders to become president, though, wouldn't it, or has he said that, if elected, he'd retrospectively indemnify all US residents for their medical expenses associated with the pandemic? (He may have done --I'm asking because I don't know).Meanwhile without universal healthcare under Biden we will have 10s of millions of Americans with huge medical bills from this they can't pay.
No, but I imagine that he would push for something like that. That would still be the case were Bernie Sanders to become president, though, wouldn't it, or has he said that, if elected, he'd retrospectively indemnify all US residents for their medical expenses associated with the pandemic? Biden and pretty much every Dem of note has said they’ll push for free coverage of all virus related treatment and expenses as well as continuing to move forward with UHC, but Sanders people continue to pretend only Bernie knows about healthcare. That would still be the case were Bernie Sanders to become president, though, wouldn't it, or has he said that, if elected, he'd retrospectively indemnify all US residents for their medical expenses associated with the pandemic? So you've automatically treated it as a done thing from Bernie, while at the same time claiming Biden won't do anything to help. Seems fair..No, but I imagine that he would push for something like that.
I am going to quote this again, because the weird Bernie worship - attributing all good things to him no matter what, while at the same time disparaging everyone else borders on the same type of delusion you see from Trump supporters. No, but I imagine that he would push for something like that.
Gobsmacked Cris cracks me up.I am going to quote this again, because the weird Bernie worship - attributing all good things to him no matter what, while at the same time disparaging everyone else borders on the same type of delusion you see from Trump supporters.
