On top of that they are now angry at me for me calling German leadership cowards for hiding behind the convenient "for the next 2 weeks" statements. Clearly lockdowns are useless if they only last 2 weeks. They will either last longer or be only blind actionism. There is a trend in leaderships worldwide are promising solutions "soon". Well,... unluckily there are none in sight. My bleak vision of the future is folks getting unsattisfied and angry pretty soon. I expect them to do lots of stupid things in that state of mind.

Sadly, in two weeks people will finally see how severe the situation really is - people will die, and everyone will personally know people who have died. And that will most likely increase the acceptance of strict measures. There seem not to be many angry reactions in Italy, I don't know why it should be different in Germany.

• they believe lockdowns will only last 2 weeks - as in the initial proclamation
• they do not believe lockdowns could close down factories in the future

and no, my parents are not particurarily evil or stupid - they just are average run of the mill egoistical human beings.

Lockdowns can work (or at least slow things down) if done correctly. My mother in law's retirement community is on lockdown. The only entry is for emergency (not sure if staff is coming and going or what though). Internal events are cancelled.
