I think most people are waiting for the Firestorm update before going BoM, from what I see in group chat.
I might install the official viewer just to pay with if it'd I run out of hunts before then, but I dunno. Want to wait for the Maitreya update too and see what that brings.

For me, the attraction is not having to mess with appliers and reducing the lag of the body. But most likely I won't be able to ditch appliers for quite some time, if ever. There's only one aged skin from YS&YS that has a "Beebo" feel to it and it's only available as an applier for the Simone Lelutka head, so I'm pretty much stuck. There's so little variety in women's skins and mesh heads -- pretty much everything skews heavily femme -- that I'm really limited in my options.
Have you looked into ways to possibly add "aged features" to other skins, like with the tattoo layers?

I have not looked but maybe you could find an applier that would add like wrinkles or something. Though the bigger trick there may be find something that isn't "extremely old and super wrinkled".

I mostly mention this because I have seen appliers for things like stretch marks.

try izzies - she had appliers for all that stuff (wrinkles, veins, scars, bruises, stretch marks ...) and recently started selling sets with classic skin layers included too... if you have her old appliers mabye they will get included in an update.

Thank you, but age is only one of the factors that limits my skin options. The most prevalent obstacle is the ingenue bee-stung lips aesthetic or other hyper-exaggerated features of SL's version of femininity. It's difficult to find features that don't look absolutely ridiculous on my face. YS&YS is usually the best fit for me, but even there only one or two skins out of dozens actually work.

Meanwhile, my alt is still playing with Slink Redux, system skins and system clothing. My inventory is filled with dozens of very old fashion hunt items. Old, I mean REALLY OLD: system clothing layers with prim/sculptie attachments for cuffs and collars. But all of them are now immediately wearable on my Slink mesh body. Wear a jacket, and there it is! Take off and it's gone!

The majority of the system clothing I sorted thru really wasn't worth keeping because the visual quality doesn't compare to mesh clothing, but there were still some items that work beautifully -- socks, undershirts, boxers. tank tops. I can now add mesh clothing over skin-tight layers without an applier. And I could see this as a great opportunity for fashion creators who don't want to deal with making mesh products or appliers for products that go on mesh.

There's a re-energized market for system layers clothing that anyone can make with Photoshop or Gimp. Socks, stockings, gloves, underwear, undershirts, tattoos and more. It's also an added enhancement that mesh clothing makers can take advantage of in creating ensembles.

And, if any of those old system clothes actually uses 1024 textures, they will high-res bake now, instead of baking as 512. That's another thing LL added with Bake on Mesh! Same for the skins and tattoos, etc.

Like in Duckwa and LeTroutka heads? Try 6DOO, GA.EG, Akeruka or LAQ heads... I managed to reduce Lip volume a lot on Lelutka Chloe but they are still way to big for my taste.

Yea but you know, anything other than Firestorm doesn't matter. You could release these features years after Firestorm and no one would give a crap because Firestorm is all that matters.

I will occasionally wear the Lelutka Simone mesh head, which works really well with my YS&YS skin. The trick is finding a head AND a skin that both can be modded away from the pouty porn-star look.

Do system clothes on mesh bodies look too skintight? I know that was a problem with them on system bods, but those weren't so... anatomially-correct, they were supposed to be bodies with clothes on.

BoM won't bring back system clothing as a whole precisely because of that skin-tight fit, which is why I emphasized that mostly underwear is re-usable, or shirts under jackets.

Slink Redux HUD has a nifty feature that can pull that system layer up from your cleavage or butt-crack, so clothing looks skin-tight but not sprayed on.

Caboodle sells a "Hoo Hoo Cover" (no kidding, that's the official product name - I did not make that up) for Maitreya. It can use Omega and thus can be set to BoM... might be helpful if you intend to use system pants...

If mesh body creators would include the clothing layers as separately attachable parts as has been suggested upthread, it could. I personally like the outer layer for clothing that is tight but not painted on. They would need to fix the pant legs to look like actual pants and not leggings, and then a skirt layer would be nice too.

If mesh body creators would make a dev kit with the correct geometry and UV as the body in world, then BoM could go somewhere, but until that happens, nothing much is going to happen.

BoM is great in outing flawed UV designs though, just yesterday one mesh head designer had their CSR admit in chat that their old heads are not true SLUV ... honestly I am a bit angry now as they were marketed as "Omega compatible" which would have required the SLUV in first place.

Which maker was that?

I always thought that system layer jeans, if they were textured decently looked pretty good for wearing with boots. There's still a lot of mesh designers that don't make jeans/pants for boots although the situation has got a lot better
