While collusion may not be an actual thing, or at least rising to the level of a criminal conspiracy, the obstruction part is just bonkers. Trump has made it clear that he's been trying to get rid of that investigation the whole time, there are so many statements and lies on the public record. Mueller was a coward.
I'm with you on all of that up to the last sentence. Mueller hasn't said anything publicly since the report was submitted (it was never released). The man has a record that would not lead anyone to believe he was a coward - but he is also a "toe the line straight shooter" type who knew that once he was finished, he had to submit his report to Barr. There may be things in the report that Barr is hiding but which would open the door for further investigation - or at least for state-level prosecution. The way the R's are reacting, I'm more suspicious of them than I am of Mueller. Regardless of his politics.

I want to read the report to see exactly what Mueller wrote about obstruction and his decision to leave as an open question whether Trump obstructed justice. I assume he explains this, and I hope he explicitly states that it is a question for Congressional oversight to decide (and not Barr and Rosenstein).

I also hope that the report has some statement along the lines of “Trump’s actions don’t rise to the level of an indictable offense due to lack of evidence, but they do raise reasonable questions about his adherence to US law, material conflicts of interest, and fitness for office”.

I googled the Starr report, and it looks like *Congress* decided to release it to the public within days. Starr wasn’t a SC, from what I can see (maybe?), so the rules might be different. A friend of a friend is a reporter in NY/DC, and they are saying that there is a lot of talk about how the report makes Trump look really bad. I am still hoping he looks bad in an orange jumpsuit and handcuffs, but I am not holding my breath.

I still have faith and hope of seeing this someday. With all we've gone through these past two years, karma owes us big time!

I think it's pretty plain that Trump was trying to obstruct investigation into his finances, since that stemmed from the Russian collusion. How many times has he threatened to fire Mueller? It isn't that hard, really. Just because he may have pulled back a few times doesn't mean that he didn't try. We had witness intimidation, people losing their jobs, video evidence of admissions... what does it take to make an iron-clad case if that doesn't? Nah, I think that in the end, he was a coward because he would have had to explain why he wouldn't indict the president and left it to Congress to wrangle over it. Why is Jeff Sessions not the AG now but for the fact that he recused himself regarding Russia? This is insane.

As long as 45 is in office, he has to many strings he can pull to delay things.
Best chance to get rid of him is making sure he looses the 2020 elections.
I agree, but I still can dream....

Um...that link thing above is not what I expected. /continues sailing through VVO unburdened by a clue

I think an investigator should do everything exactly by the book, to stay credible.
If Mueller would talk to the press now, that wouldn't do him or his work any good.
When he will be invited to an official hearing, that would change things. That would be the moment that he might talk.
And even then he might refuse to talk about certain things, to prevent obstructing further ongoing or to be started investigations by others.
His report is not a novel that simply can be published and discussed by the author.

That is a good point. I think we need to wait and see if Congress calls Mueller in to testify on his report and see what comes of it. Republicans may well find they celebrated too early. I have hope that the investigations will go on.

Trump: If Barr Had Always Been AG, Mueller Probe 'Would Not Have Happened'

Yes, we know that you got your hatchet man in place. I'd be surprised if you even knew the history of Iran-Contra well enough to select him. We see the people supporting and enabling you. They won't escape justice, if there is such a thing anymore. Enjoy your ill-gotten gain, for now.

Also:

Of course. When there is lack of accountability for a criminal, why wouldn't they then continue to push further?

And this:
Trump Accuses FBI Officials Who Investigated Him of Treason
Bloomberg - Are you a robot?. Ignore Bloomberg robot thing. Not sure why that is happening; link should still work.

Righto. You didn't commit treason; the people investigating you did. We all know that SHS says people guilty of treason are to be put to death. How far will you push your perverted world, Mr. President?

I'd just say, Mueller is not a coward; what he is is one cagey old bastard. He's up to something, and my guess is its the whole give them a rope and let them hang themselves. Which they will, if this weekend was any indication.
That would be nice, probably keep me from having a stroke.
I keep wondering why he remains so silent.

NO U! -the narcissist shuffle
What do we know of situations where the narcissist wins? Many have spoken of what happens when one is backed into a corner, but what to expect now that he has won? Just how low is he going to take us all? We can argue over whether he has truly won or if it will continue, but what has happened over the last number of days is a definite win. Will he be content with doing a victory dance or can we expect him to continue attacks and/or possibly seek revenge upon those he hates?

It seems consistent with Trump's illness that rather than be gracious in victory -- half victory, really -- he will seek to punish all who gave him trouble. Revenge is the name of Trump's game.
