Once you understand that the broligarchs are eugenicists who care more about hypothetical, future AI-enhanced lives than about today’s population and believe that it is their right and their duty to sit atop a brutally hierarchical society where cold, computational “rationality” trumps human rights and dignity, a lot of things start making sense. Like joining forces with a wannabe authoritarian who is willing to do what it takes to make the world safe for AGI. Or planning to take over Gaza and threatening to invade Greenland, both of which offer prime real estate for a Freedom City. Or blowing up the transatlantic alliance over European tech regulations. Or using American immigration policy to defend Silicon Valley from the tech accountability movement. The list goes on.

This is a bit of a long read but you really really should read the whole thing when you have the free time, especially if you've never heard of "TESCREAL" before or are unsure what it means. Like, you've definitely seen it in the news lately how some AI CEOs and developers have been making announcements about how dangerous AI is, but you may not realize that this is a theological argument between different sects of an AI-focused quasi-religion that despite their differences all agree on the broad strokes in a way that is disastrous for the rest of us, just not in the ways they're implying. And this AI religion isn't an oddity that emerged among some AI researchers and developers, like the way chatbots inflict some users with "AI psychosis". It's what started all of the AI development in the first place, and all of the AI CEOs and hypebros belong to it - literally all of them.

Last week, Meta executives announced that its much-hyped AI agent, Muse, had a new feature: It could call businesses for you to do things like make a restaurant reservation or a haircut appointment. But in reality, Meta is testing having these calls being made by human beings in call centers, 404 Media has learned.

Once again, a core feature of a major piece of AI technology will actually just be people working in a call center, doing work that a company says AI is doing. It is not clear how often or when a call is routed to a so-called “human agent,” and when a call is done exclusively by AI.

The fact that human beings are involved in the call raised questions among employees, who wondered both about the privacy implications of sharing people’s call requests with other human beings as well as the perception that its AI assistant wasn’t advanced enough to do calls on its own.

It doesn't "follow your prompts", it adds text to the story you're writing. There should be no more consequences than if you were Arthur Conan Doyle and wrote about Sherlock Homes shooting at the wall of his Baker Street office. If some of text gets fed into a program that does things, like firing a gun, and it's a real gun, and the bullet hits someone on the other side of the wall because nobody thought to pile up cinder-blocks behind the plaster, that's something LLMs were ever originally designed for and is absolutely a bug. Don't feed your detective novel fanfic into footgun.leopardscript. I mean, sheesh, why would you do that?

Not everyone has good intentions. So that "bug" can be used to direct far more mischief at greater speeds than a human can foment on their own. At this point, it doesn't even matter what LLMs were originally designed to do; what matters is what they CAN do for people who are irresponsible or bad actors.

I'm not minimizing the impact of this bug (or design flaw), I'm objecting to the language that suggests the LLM has agency and "does things". It doesn't "do things", it doesn't "operate your computer" or "spend your money". It just writes stories, fanfic if you will. It's external programs that are doing that, and having them driven by a randomly generated fanfic created by your prompt is just crazy. But by talking about it as if the LLM is an active agent with reasoning powers people are misled into letting this crazy design happen.

The language is the problem.

So anyway, he's been doing this for YEARS. So after I got the latest 'Hi NY Dude' from some college I fed his name in to a 'find all records' websites. Without paying anything, I got the names of relations that I'd found before and THAT gave me the town he lives in.

Using Google AI, I asked for all information on <Dudes name> in his town.

It gave me everything. Name, age, address, email address and even his spouse and kids names (He's 63, so any kids are likely in their 30's or 40's).

Now I could have chosen violence, but I sent him an email asking him to stop using MY email for his spam.

So, AI solved a long standing problem and gave me the ammo for revenge if he keeps doing it.

I kept constantly emailing him telling him that he was using the wrong email and putting mine in and he kept apologising but nothing changed. I finally stopped using that gmail address, that was the only way I got any peace.

The AI also included his phone number so I have the opportunity to now inundate him with robocalls from everything from the DNC and RNC, 'Home equity loan scams' and so much more. In fact anything I can find (if he chooses violence).

ETA: I also learned who he works for. Hilariously, he's worked for a defense/aerospace company for at least 30 years.

Contest-Winning Microscope Video Is Full of AI Confabulations, Scientists Say

The winner of Nikon's 2026 Small World In Motion contest said he used AI to post-process real video.

Japanese optics company Nikon has stated it is “carefully re-reviewing” information submitted by National University of Singapore optical engineer Ning Xu after commenters accused him of using AI in his winning entry to the 16th annual Small World in Motion contest.

Small World in Motion bills itself as celebrating the beauty of light microscopy. According to Nature, Xu’s video submission showed the movement of cilia in lung tissue samples from a child with a chronic condition called primary ciliary dyskinesia. Unidentified red, blue, and purple structures can be seen under the cilia.

Nikon Instruments, the division of Nikon that sponsors the contest, announced Xu’s winning entry in mid-September and reposted it to LinkedIn last week. It quickly faced a storm of criticism from users who pointed out significant discrepancies. For example, University of Florida in Gainesville bioengineering researcher Edward Phelps posted to LinkedIn, “The purple structures resemble mitochondria but such a sub-epithelial structure composed of extracellular mitochondria of the same size as cell nuclei does not occur in biology.” Phelps added the blue nodules resembled nuclei but didn’t act like nuclei, and that he has no idea what the structures shown in red are.

Another LinkedIn user, UT Southwestern Medical Center PhD student Ian Donovan, pointed out that the video had a SynthID watermark, according to CNN.
