German magazine "Der Spiegel" reports that the administration of Iran planned the execution of Josef Schuster, the president of the central council of Jews in Germany and Volker Beck, the president of the German-Israel-Association.

The would be killer has Danish citizenship, but originates from Afghanistan and is named Ali S. He made his investigations and preparations in spring 2025, but was arrested during that.

Now he is put on trial before a court in Hamburg. The Iranian government denies any involvement.

Some of my favourite Northern German foods are pizza, szechuan chicken and tortilla wraps with mango, arugula and goat cheese.
You forgot Döner kebab.

While I like döner kebab, that's something I don't make myself (there's no shortage of good döner places where I live).

I occasionally make these, though:

Tastes great if you put it with some coleslaw between two bread roll halves.

I guess it's close enough and since I'm from Northern Germany, that makes it another "Northern German" food.

That butchery never has ground beef when I need it.

ETA: seriously, I just went there two days ago to get ingredients for chili con carne and it was sold out again.

Germany lost the vote for a temporary seat in the UN Security Council. Instead Portugal and Austria gained one. It's the first time Germany missed out on a rotating seat.

Many do view Germany's unwavering support for Israel as main reason for that.

Also our former super idiotic foreign secretary Annalena Baerbock resigned after serving for one year as the president of the general assembly, which is normal.

The writer of this article has obviously no clue what he's talking about. This is by no means a landmark decision.

German civil law has four levels of courts from top to bottom:

1. Bundesgerichtshof (BGH)
2. Oberlandesgericht (OLG)
3. Landgericht (LG)
4. Amtsgericht (AG)

When being the plaintiff you are going from lowest court to highest over time, if possible. This also means that Landgericht is able to revise decisions from the Amtsgericht, OLG from LG and so on.

If the amount in dispute is 10.000 Euros or less, you will start at the AG. If it is bigger than 10K, you will start at the LG. The amount of dispute is higher than 10K, which is why this was the first decision on that matter. It has no fundamental meaning. Since Google has an office in Munich this is why it started here.

Only decisions from the BGH have that, and from the OLG can act as guideline for lower courts in its jurisdiction.

In other words: let's see how this is going to progress, and come back to it in 2-3 years or so.

Also it was too sensible for the average law graduate.

Certainly, and any significant civil (or criminal) case is any jurisdiction with which I'm familiar is subject to several levels of appeal. Doubtless this will be appealed all the way to the top, and quite possibly to the CJEU in Luxemburg (the top EU court) and/or the European Court of Human Rights on free speech grounds.

As you suggest, we won't see a final result for the next couple of years.

But to my mind this is significant in that the lower court decision has started the process by finding that German law supports the plaintiff's' case and that Google doesn't enjoy immunity from its own AI's errors (as opposed to errors in third party sites). The decision may be reversed by a superior court, of course, but it's the first step and, to my mind, a significant one.

The president of the UN GA, Annalena Baerbock, praised the German national soccer team as great example for diversity to Germany's kids.

While Baerbock is praising the diversity, Germans are doing what they always do during a world championship: dissecting the lineup of the soccer team. It's done by the press as all people, it's like you've got suddenly 80 million national trainers all knowing better what to do than the official one.

One person especially sparks criticism in the line up - 30 year old Leroy Sané. Sané was a player for record master 1. FC Bayern München, nowadays he's playing for Galatasaray Istanbul. He had a 5 year contract with Bayern München. München wanted to extend that contract, but Galatasaray offered more. Many Bayern München fans never warmed up for him, because they expected more from him. He didn't perform bad, but they expected a new Arjen Robben, which heights he never reached.

National trainer Julian Nagelsmann always told upfront that being a member of the lineup for the championship is based on personal performance. And that's where many do consider Sané to be the wrong choice, criticising him to be an unstable performer.

More precisely many consider Sané to be able to deliver great football and think about him as a world class player. His problem though is that his performance fluctuates a lot, and he rarely shows his genius abilities. Therefore many fans and some German soccer legends as well consider him to be a burden, unfit to participate in this championship, because his overall performance is mediocre in their eyes and not constant enough.

On the other hand he's quite popular within the team and important for its morale. So it will be interesting to watch his journey through this championship.

Many consider it as grave mistake that Nagelsmann brought him back into the team and took him to the championship.

Oh look. Like the Trump and Netanyahu regimes, the Merz "government" is throwing its toys out the pram, butthurt at the fact its vehement support for genocide cost them a seat at the Security Council. Germany is in no position to pretend it's rational. Fun fact: it's NEVER been, and its criminal recordhistory provides ample proof. "Germany wants to be respected." Heh. Someone ought to tell Wadephul that respect is earned, not bought.

PS: Remember when it suspended funding to UNRWA, adopting the Zionazi Apartheid regime's lies?
