Trump Looked Up How Many Votes He Got in Wildfire-Torn Area Before Agreeing to Provide Disaster Aid

Former officials in Donald Trump's White House have dropped new bombshell claims that the previous president wanted to withhold federal disaster aid in states that were not Republican-leaning during his time as commander in chief.

Mark Harvey, a senior director on Trump's National Security Council staff, and Olivia Troye, the former homeland security adviser to Mike Pence, spoke to Politico’s E&E News and alleged that there are at least three occasions where Trump played politics and deliberately delayed disaster relief as president.

In one shocking instance — during the deadly California wildfires in 2018 — Harvey claims that Trump initially refused to approve disaster aid because the state is historically Democratic. Harvey alleges that the then-president only changed his mind after staff made the case that Orange County, where fire was spreading, largely supported Trump.

“We went as far as looking up how many votes he got in those impacted areas … to show him these a

It's the space lasers that are controlling the weather.

But seriously, why is that piece of work still in office? She's got to be a serious source of embarrassment for the State of Georgia.

Dozens of pounds of fentanyl...
What are the odds these same people bitch about the "drug crisis" constantly.

Also, I am not saying its not a problem, but why does it feel like this whole fentanyl thing came into existence like 4 years ago from nowhere.

Remember the allergy-death lawsuit at Disney?
Well, if you’ve ever ordered something on Uber Eats, you willingly gave up your right to sue Uber.

The McGintys sued the company in February 2023, but a few months later, Uber filed a motion arguing that the McGintys had no legal right to do so. According to Uber—and a New Jersey appellate court, which agreed last month—the McGintys gave up their right to sue over the car crash months before it even happened, when they ordered dinner delivery via Uber Eats.

I hope it goes to appeals.
I've just looked at Uber's UK terms and conditions and, as far as I can make out, under most circumstances I'll need to sue the driver and their insurance company (or the restaurant and their insurers in the case of Uber Eats) rather than to pursue Uber itself.

What the driver's or restaurant's insurers might do is another question, but I'd need to sue the driver or the restaurateur.

Obviously it may well be different in the US but, given Uber's position that its drivers are independent contractors rather than Uber employees, I'm not sure it's that unreasonable.

I mean, can you really hold Uber responsible if a restaurant inadvertently contaminates a customer's meal with nuts after the customer has made the restaurant aware of their allergy? It's the restaurant owner who's responsible for what goes on in the kitchen, I'd have thought, rather than Uber.

In the case of drivers I would sue Uber and the driver as Uber has actively fought background check requirements.

At least in England and Wales, all Uber drivers need to have a private hire licence issued by a local authority, which normally includes criminal records and health checks.

Isn’t Uber arguing that they can’t be sued because the plaintiffs signed away any “right to sue” by ordering from Uber Eats, and not because they aren’t responsible for the actions of Uber drivers.
In its opinion, the New Jersey appeals court quoted decades-old precedent acknowledging that clickwrap agreements are valid contracts, and that the government has a “strong preference” for enforcing arbitration clauses.
In this case, the clickwrap was 17 pages long. This is what bothers me the most.

Anyway, fuck Uber, and unless you have no other choice, please avoid them and other companies that contract out instead of hiring full time employees who receive the benefits they are due.
