I have some republican friends that I usually ignore their politcal posts - actually I ignore most of my friends' political posts unless I know they're the kind to put up with the fact that I'm an equal opportunity mocker.

But, this woman posted, "Jesus was a convicted felon too." And I was like, "No. Just no. You are not going to compare my God to that walking talking trash heap. That is not even borderline blasphemous, and you need to repent (since she claims to be Christian)."

She was like "Many people are mis-convicted...."

And I was like, "And next month you're going to be on here yelling about convicted felons supposedly being allowed to vote. The rules need to apply to everyone. A little consistency please."

She unfriended me.

I agree with your reasoning 100%. I'm not a believer, but it's easy to see why comparing any given convict to Jesus is more than a little blasphemous. It sounds like you embarrassed her and she wasn't mature enough to realize your point was totally valid.

Barabbas was also a convicted felon. I wonder if she thinks he was mis-convicted, too.

According to scripture, Jesus did not deny any of the accusations put against him - whatever specific charges were being claimed. So it's pretty ludicrous to say he was "mis-convicted." And being the "son of God," wouldn't he have been able to avoid punishment for his crimes? Yet he chose not to, allowing himself to be punished.

Trump should follow Jesus' example.
