The 50/50 split makes it harder. While Democrats chair every committee, the members are evenly split. If we get a 51/49 split, then Democrats can have a majority on most committees.

Trial proceedings can take years, and there will be several of them so it'll be hard for the Republicans to "Move on". The constant drumbeat will NOT work in the Republicans favor and there are still two years of the Dems holding both the presidency and one house of congress. Two years of this will devastate the G.O.P. This means they will need to make some kind of high-handed questionably constitutional moves to stop or smother the proceedings, hoping to "run out the clock" until the next general election.

It's been touched on before, the way justice departmetns go after organized crime is grabbing the little guys and squeezing them. And work up the ladder. It takes years. You don't want a justice system that operates orders of magnitude faster.
