I don't know Pence well enough, but your discription seems to me spot on for Jacob Rees Mogg.
For Pence, think of a white-haired robot which has been programmed with conservative talking points.

Someone who does everything he can to stay on Trump's good side without causing waves that will hurt himself.

Federal officials closed the Washington Monument to visitors on a temporary basis beginning Friday after U.S. Interior Secretary David Bernhardt, who led a private tour of the monument this week, tested positive for the COVID-19 virus.

Interior Department spokesman Nicholas Goodwin confirmed the closure, which the Washington Post first reported. He said "a couple" employees at the monument were forced to quarantine as as result of Bernhardt's positive test, prompting the decision.

Joe Wilson is back :)censored:) and proving he's the joke he's always been.

Rep. Joe Wilson (R-S.C.) boasted on Facebook Wednesday that he was back in Washington and looking forward to voting in person on the House floor. He also mocked Democrats for being overly cautious during the pandemic.

A few hours later, Wilson, 73, announced he had tested positive for COVID-19. That Facebook post has since been deleted.

Getting COVID due to carelessness at this stage is like being an Olympic runner who starts the celebration 10m before the finish line, trips over their own feet, and ends up the bronze medalist on the podium.

Sinterklaas died from Covid-19 last night.

Well, more precisely the man who played him for 25 years on Dutch TV and in several movies. For everyone now in their twenties, thirties and forties he was the real one where they grew up with as a child.
Bram van der Vlugt (86) was still active as an actor in stage productions and played Sinterklaas last summer when a new Sinterklaas movie was filmed, that was a success in the movie theaters last fall.

Boris Johnson has issued a new “stay at home” order covering London and much of the south and east of England, and dramatically curtailed plans for Christmas mixing nationwide, in response to a new fast-spreading strain of coronavirus.

Just days after reaffirming the festive “bubble” plan and claiming it would be “inhuman” to cancel Christmas, the prime minister announced the creation of a new, stricter “tier 4”.

Only households living outside this area will now be allowed to mix for Christmas in England – and then only for a single day, 25 December, with long-distance travel discouraged.
The plans were confirmed in a cabinet call on Saturday afternoon, and the prime minister also spoke to the Labour leader, Keir Starmer, to discuss them.

Just three days ago, Johnson taunted Starmer with wanting to “cancel Christmas”, as he insisted the government would be sticking with looser regulations allowing up to three families to mix for up to five days.

I got the news this afternoon that one of my sister-in-laws has Stage 4 cancer. I was unable to get much more info than that but immediately I began counting the friends I know who have recently been diagnosed as Stage 4. There's four of them. That's a pretty advanced point in the progression, which made me start thinking about our regular medical care in my area. Prior to COVID, cancer was fairly common but I don't remember clusters like this. Then it made sense to me -- a lot of people, me included, have been in total lockdown since last March. I haven't had a decent haircut all this time - my sister tried once - and I need eyeglasses. And my doctor has only done virtual visits. It makes sense that some symptoms would be ignored or missed. And regular checkups - like Pap smears, colonoscopies etc - that would usually detect some forms of cancer early are being skipped over for fear of the virus.

It kills us coming and going.
