I actually woke up this morning feeling mildly optimistic for our future! Here's to hoping the Democrats can take full advantage of this and stop a lot of the fuckery going on in the White House and Oval Office!

There is still some serious fuckery afoot in FL.

Does FL have those infernal voting machines? I was reading last week about how the votes in another state were turning from straight ticket D to straightl ticket R. Apparently, a person had to wait a certain amount of time for the screen to change and/or toggle through the remaining pages or it would default to R.

Why Are Texas Voting Machines Switching Democratic Votes to Ted Cruz (and Vice Versa)?
Texas voting machines are switching votes — but it’s bad design, not hacking

There is so much potential election fuckery in FL I honestly don’t even know where to start. Yes, we use the shitty hackable machines (with WiFi!) and we were ground zero for the test run of purging voter rolls. It’s impossible to get into it all without sounding like Dale Gribble.

In local good news , it looks like Rich Stanek, our Hennepin Cty Sheriff is out. He is notorious for quite a few things (check out his wiki). He turns people over to ICE when pulled over for other infractions and he sent Deputies and equipment to Standing Rock, ND to suppress the Dakota Access Pipeline protests.

Dave Hutchinson narrowly leads Rich Stanek in race for Hennepin sheriff
Richard W. Stanek - Wikipedia

It's turnovers like this that give me hope. The Republicans have been able to do what they have done for the last 30 odd years by focusing on local races. It's time we returned the favor.

The Blue Wave turned out to be less than I had hoped, but let's not lose sight of the fact that for the first time in his adminstration, Donnie will have actual oversight to contend with.

And while Kansas is barely even mentioned in the national news as liberal Women show up in force, we did elect a Democratic woman to our governor's office yesterday. Really more of a "moderate", in deep red Kansas that counts as a major swing. And she did it over the back of teaparty holdover and voter suppressor Kris Kobach.

In Kansas, we call him "Crisco Box". :)

Sessions has resigned as AG. Whitaker will be acting AG. He has already criticized the Mueller investigation for crossing the red line of looking into the Trump family's finances in an Op-Ed for CNN. He also stuck up for Don Jr's Trump Tower meeting (totally not Russian collusion!) Whitaker just called for limiting the scope of the Mueller investigation. That worked out so well with the investigation into Kavanaugh. Here we go. Is it time for Mueller to hit the "leak indictments" button now?

Some would say he's the best kind of Republican legislator.
I clicked the LOL smilie, but many legislators are old, and we do have a process to deal with dead ones. Hof can't take the oath of office, being dead and all. So his seat will be temporarily vacant. Every state has a process to fill vacancies. I don't know what Nevada's is, but typical methods are appointing someone to fill the remainder of the term, or holding a special election to fill the seat.
