That said, half the people in this country will still refuse a vaccine, because reasons.
I'll probably be one of them, to be honest. I simply don't trust the fast-tracking and corner-cutting that is the hallmark of the Trump administration. This is the system that completely bolloxed up the virus testing, after all. I'm not in the highest risk groups, but I'm high enough that I would definitely LIKE a vaccine, but I'm not willing to TRY a vaccine until I'm convinced it's not a Trump scam.

But I'm not terribly worried my resistance will be noticed or even relevant given how many hurdles there are to distribute a viable, safe and effective vaccine to the entire population of the US. I'll be lucky if I'm still alive by the time we get our act together.

Interesting little tidbit I ran across the other day: We don't even have enough river sand -- which is apparently what is required -- to make all the vials for those doses. There seems to be a global shortage of river sand; because, of course there is, it is 2020. Do we have enough syringes? Nope. Enough people to do the job of quickly processing paperwork and vaccinating 200,000,000 or so folks just in the US, never mind the rest of the world? Not a chance. But we're working on it, right? Uhhhhhhhhhh ......no.

Dr. Rick Bright and his team of vaccine experts estimated that between 650 million to 850 million needles and syringes would be needed to administer a vaccine in the U.S. alone. Currently, the Strategic National Stockpile (SNS) contains about 15 million needles and syringes, about 2 percent of what will be needed, according to Bright’s complaint.

I'm right there with you. While I hope for a vaccine soon, the reality is these things cannot be rushed. We don't live in a Utopian star trek universe where the ship's doctor can whip up a vaccine before Captain Janeway dies of the Salamander Virus.

Hey, some of us have never set our sims on fire, nor dumped them into a pool with no ladder despite playing from The Sims to The Sims 4. I am curious about this new bug that means our sims pee fire. I haven't played in a few months, but am seriously tempted to see just how far I can shoot that fire.
Whaaaaa???

I haven't played in a while, but it sounds like it's time to get some male Sims together and have a flamethrowing contest!

Polls seem to be ranging from 50% to at best 70% choosing to vaccinate. I'll be in that group.

My age, sex, family medical history, blood type, weight and urban location make me -very- keen on not waiting any longer than absolutely necessary.

My past respiratory difficulties, while they may not rise to the level of an official asthma diagnosis, make me inclined to lean that way too. But if my brother gives me the inside medical poop and it's negative, I'll listen.

Now, GTA is another story. Anarchy all the way, there. :) I've made over $200 million being a completely anti-social criminal. I really don't have much left to spend it on, unlike in the real world where apparently, those who have made such amounts never seem to be satisfied.
Take a look at GrayStillPlays ... you do not even need to be a gamer to find his vids hilarious.

What I meant was, think of the omnishambles that the US government made of getting testing kits out, and then getting them admistered, and then the results analysed and communicated back to patients, and getting PPE into hospitals and ventilators in the right place.

We did badly enough in the UK, and are paying for it, but you did even worse.

Vaccines are going to be just the same, I'm sure.
I am still boggling at the logic of them saying they could test anyone who wanted a test. Even though everyone knew we were far behind the curve on processing. Further questioning made in clear they were differentiating between intake of test samples and delivering results.

I drank a sugary tasting liquid from a little paper cup. There were lines of people moving pretty quickly at a local high school. Didn't have to wait long.

Also had the Salk vaccine a few years earlier. I don't remember a lot about that one.

Here in NY you need a prescription, and have to meet one or more criteria, but those cover a lot of situations, including having attended a protest. There's nothing about tests being scarce. Perhaps this is a hopeful sign?

Donald Trump now lives at 1600, Black Lives Matter Plaza.

While that would be sweet it lives on Pennsylvania Ave, not on the renamed street. Plus the feds have control of the block he is on.
