I am not entirely concinced that Bud Light actually lost money. Its been a while, but I want to say if you look at a sales graph, its more like, it had short burst of higher than usual, then happened to come down off of that higher than usual around the time of the boycot.

If Budweiser lost money, that probably has more to do with their beer tasting like piss.

Mainstream beers in the US do certainly taste like piss. But I've had some really tasty brews in the US, and especially abroad.
Never been abroad and never will be. I won't ever have that kind of money. We're barely staying afloat as it is and now, we have repairs to the MH thanks to the idiot who crashed into it. Thankfully our All-State agent has been wonderful to work with unlike the people responsible.

I never was much of a beer drinker, but an ice-cold Killian's Red goes down a treat on rare occasion.

I was in Belgium once in the late 90s, but I still enjoy the occasional Stella Artois these days.

Imports!

Not Killian's though. They're under license with Molson Coors (they claim it's the same recipe, though).

I quite liked Anchor Steam when I lived in the US (though that was a long time ago). But otherwise I found American beer pretty much undrinkable, and stuck to Mexican imports. Or bourbon.

However, I'm told that microbreweries are now a big thing over there, so that might be different.

Certainly, though, there was nothing to compare with European beers, or even those from English local breweries, of which there were many back then.

I remember when US Budweiser -- nothing like the Czech beer of the same name, which is lovely -- was first advertised in the UK, under their then slogan "It's a Budweiser kind of day!" When one of their posters appeared on a billboard near where I then lived, someone added in spray paint, "Cold, wet and horrible."

They're HUGH here.

One of the chain grocers I shop has a large selection of single bottles of "craft" beers. They provide a cardboard six-pack carrier, you load it up with whatever you like, and pay a set price (I think the last time I bought one, it was $9.99 for the 6). A great way to experiment and find some good brands and flavors.

In regards to that: chocolate beer? Not a fan.

Sorry to report that Sapporo bought Anchor Steam and just closed it. :(

I can't stand IPA's, but I like reds, browns, 'wheat beers', an occasional stout and ciders. If I'm stuck with pilsner it's usually Corona or Asahi.

Lately it's more often a glass with dinner of the $3buck chuck from Trader Joes. I like their Merlot, Shiraz, Cab and 'Red Blend'.

IPA is what happens when you don't know how hops work. There are only a handful that I like. Life is bitter and disappointing. Beer should not be.

I prefer darker beers, mostly porter and stouts, but without silly ingredients. Oatmeal or coffee work in stout. Peanut butter is for cookies.

When really hot and humid, I've enjoyed some "sour" beers (not sure if that's what they're called in English). Surprised me the first time I tried. There are different types.

The one microbrewery here that produced the closest to worth a damn to drink here shut down.

It's all a matter of personal taste anyway. I honestly never really liked alcoholic drinks. My dad said it was a developed taste and he was right. I never developed a taste for it and I tried. lol

Sadly, the real reason they lost money was because the American public still hates gay people THAT MUCH. That's the unfortunate truth. The fact that Bud and Bud lite are shitty beers wasn't it.
I'd still say it's related, though, because the kind of people who spend money on this kind of "beer" obviously have a bad sense of judgement.

that's true enough. People who are "with it" stopped drinking bud lite long before this.
