I've gotten frustrated with avatar customization, with is now so incredibly complicated in ways that reduce my options for being Beebo. Mesh head shapes and female skins just don't lend themselves to the face I want. I've tried various combinations of female & male heads and skins, and I just end up looking weird. Add "older" skin into the mix and it's just impossible.

What would it take to bring me back? A woman's skin that was comfortably mature and without makeup, a mesh head that didn't look like an 17-year-old waif who walked into a beehive, and some decent salt-and-pepper hair on top.
I feel for you, Non standard skin color. I lke my face and want to keep it, my avatar is short with a slight build.
I also miss the Duchess, had a wonderful time

For the past year or so I've been logging in only for my Sunday events at Club Noir, and occasionally in spare moments inbetween with one of my alts. This social isolation thing is definitely changing that for me; whereas usually I'm out in RL at least three or four evenings a week, suddenly I'm not going out at all. And I am sure I'm not the only one...

It’ll be interesting to see what a worldwide pandemic will do to the numbers.
Just a small snapshot really, but my event at Club Noir last night was the best-attended I've had in a very long time, and by a significant amount. I even made a comment that if it gets any busier, I will need a bigger dance floor. Club tips for this month have exceeded my monthly goal already, with still another week to go. That has never happened before.

The sequel will probably be better.

So, it's not Second Life, but I logged into OS Grid last night, just for the hell of it.

I think there were more people hanging out at LBSA Plaza (the landing zone) than I have seen in all my previous time visiting OSGrid combined.

If I didn’t sign in, how would I read the notecards I get? (My display name is No Notecards Please.)

My sales so far seem to be about the same as usual.

A club is a bit different from a shop though. For now, I think people are just craving social contact. I think businesses like yours may pick up soon though, as returners-to-SL decide they want to stay, and want a home. I bet you'll see an uptick in sales when the Linden Homes log cabins are released, and everyone wants new furniture.

Mostly they are buying houses. And yelling at me because they forgot how to open a box.

Ebbe says this: We are seeing an increase in new registrations and returning residents during this outbreak.

This is a good time for Linden Lab to ditch Sansar, dissolve the Fantasy User League, and serve to the user base they actually have.

Oh dear, did I type “serve” out loud like we were customers? bad lab rat khamon slap slap

It's not secret that a lot of the people here don't sign into SL anymore - the same was true back on SLU. What keeps you from signing into SL?

What would it take for you to check out SL again?
I've tried for a few days to come up with a pithy answer to this and it's 2 fold.
The first is I don't want to have to waste days of my life struggling with this mesh body biz and have to give up my look just to have a body that's not so clunky.
The second issue is that I don't want to build using off grid tools - I'd rather poke my eyes out with sharp sticks than use blender.
One day I'll go back in world for a proper looksee though. If there's a change of owner then probably sooner.

I’d recommend giving blender another try if you haven’t in a while. Blender 2.9 is an entirely different program made like to be easy to use by people who have used Windows program interfaces. (Left click to select, shift left select or left drag box to select multiple, right click for context menus, position, rotate, and scale tools easily visible on the UI, etc, etc) Old blender behaved like no other Windows program which constantly threw people off.its honestly made by sane people now. I’d argue it’s easier to learn than learning Second Life at this point.

It was crazy busy - nothing compared to the big places, but for a small club like Noir, it sure was. They kept pouring in the door. I was very busy trying to say hi to new arrivals, thank tippers, invite people to dance with me on my HUD, and maybe even talk about the music I was playing a little bit.

It was only my second time there, and my poor little 'puter couldn't handle that many people; even with the lowest settings and my camera pointed at the floor, I still crashed. Didn't dare try again. I went back yesterday for the new informal social thing they're doing; that wasn't as busy but there was at least ten people there from 1pm to 2pm.

I've definitely noticed a pretty big uptick in the number of users inworld when I log in.

I am seeing a lot of people who mention they haven’t been in SL for a while and are setting up a home again. It makes me feel good to respond to support requests promptly, so they feel like good old SL is there for them as always, when the other world isn’t.

I log in spits and spurts. But I don't get on as much as I used to because RL is fairly busy, and because I don't have the disposable income to be able to buy Linden Dollars, so I'm homeless and poor as a church mouse in-world. Having a ten-year-old laptop that struggles a bit with populated sims probably doesn't help my login rate either.

I log-in to do various graphic and writing projects with my husband. We pretty much do same in RL. And probably could use any graphic engine with assets to do stuff so I guess the proper question is "why do I not wonder about in SL and interact?". There is nothing besides fashion events going on unless you fancy clubbing which is okay if you find your niche and if said niche has people in it. My computers were always kind of not struggling with SL but my internet had always had issues until recently (although, same as others - I cannot load an active, developed sim with shaders or fully rendered folks) but somehow I enjoyed picking a random direction in which to wander mainland and always came across something. Took a break for moving and stuff until 2014 when I fancied some roleplay and did for few years but recently nothing that is not ... modern family thing came up. Sooooo, in summary... I would be active if there was variety - same goes for fashion and avatars really because it comes down to same thing.
