When the Epstein Files are released...

What will you do when the Epstein Files are finally released?

  • I'm gonna party like it's 3998 (1999 x 2)

  • Nothing (because it''ll NEVER happen)

  • Prepare for the mega-rioting to come

  • Take that long overdue stress nap

  • "I will diminish, and go into the West and remain Galadriel."

  • Consume way too much pie and whiskey

Yup, lost control of the "M" names.

Well, it all sounds a bit skeevy, and now they're reaping the results. No sympathy.

Mandelson’s ease in the world of the wealthy and the lawless, the lurid and the powerful, the beautiful and the damned. He was at home among global elites for whom scandal is survivable. In other words, he would be entirely at home in the court of Trump. Many of the same columnists now condemning Starmer praised him at the time for appointing a “master of the dark arts”, for taking a gamble. Starmer was no natural admirer of Mandelson, but came to believe that the jeopardy of the US-UK relationship under Trump justified the risk.

If you want the counterfactual proof positive of that, consider another alternative reality: one where Kamala Harris had won the 2024 presidential election. Mandelson’s name wouldn’t have even been on the list. In other words, Mandelson was a reflection of the mores legitimised by the Trump era. Another man about whom much is known, and even more is ignored. Starmer held his nose because he thought the geopolitical gain was worth it, another ugly calculation of risk.

Yeah! Somebody should DO SOMETHING! Haul 'em before Congress! That'll show 'em!

Someone doesn't seem to quite grasp how the present US Congress works -- or, more accurately, doesn't work. Who is this guy, anyway?

Oh. US Congressman from CA.
He could start by inspecting those ICE concentration camps.

Ghislaine Maxwell appeared (virtually) on Capitol Hill today, but kept her mouth shut on all the incriminating stuff.

Convicted sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell pleaded the Fifth Amendment while appearing virtually before the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee on Monday as part of a high-profile inquiry into Jeffrey Epstein’s activities and the federal government’s handling of related files.

Maxwell is serving a 20-year federal prison sentence for her role in aiding Epstein’s sexual abuse of underage girls and is in custody at a federal prison camp in Bryan, Texas.

The co-conspirator invoked her right to remain silent on a “blanket basis” and refused to answer substantive questions during the deposition.
“Ghislaine Maxwell took the fifth and refused to answer any questions. This is obviously very disappointing,” Committee Chair Rep. James Comer, R-Ky., told reporters on Monday morning. “We had many questions to ask about the crime she and Epstein committed, as well as questions about potential co-conspirators. We sincerely want to get to the truth to the American people and justice for the survivors. That’s what this investigation is about.”
Obviously, she's looking for that pardon.
Maxwell’s attorney, David Oscar Markus, told the committee that his client invoked her constitutional right and said that Maxwell would answer questions only if she is granted clemency by President Donald Trump.

“Only she can provide the complete account,” he said. “Some may not like what they hear, but the truth matters. For example, both President Trump and President Clinton are innocent of any wrongdoing.”
I'm not sure the truth is something she can provide us.

I missed this yesterday, that House judiciary members were given access to unredacted Epstein files.

Jamie Raskin accuses DoJ of cover-up after viewing unredacted Epstein files
A top House Democrat on Monday accused the justice department of making “mysterious redactions” to documents related to Jeffrey Epstein that obscured the names of abusers, while also allowing the identities of the disgraced financier’s victims to become public.

Jamie Raskin, House judiciary ranking member, criticized the department after reviewing the unredacted Epstein files at a government facility in Washington DC on the first day they were made available to lawmakers.
Raskin told reporters that he wanted to view the complete files to better understand how the justice department handled the redaction process.

“I went over there, and I was able to determine, at least I believe, that there were tons of completely unnecessary redactions, in addition to the failure to redact the names of victims, and so that was troubling to us,” Raskin told reporters.

He accused the justice department of being “in a cover-up mode” and breaking the law.
Uh huh.
“I saw the names of lots of people, who were redacted for mysterious or baffling or inscrutable reasons,” Raskin said. He noted Les Wexner, the Victoria’s Secret founder whose association with Epstein is public, is among those whose names were deleted.

Another redacted document Raskin said he saw in full was an email Epstein had sent to his associate Ghislaine Maxwell, which contained an account from his lawyers of a conversation with attorneys representing Trump that occurred around 2009.

Trump was quoted in it as saying that while Epstein was never a member of his Mar-a-Lago club, he had been a guest and was never asked to leave, which would contradict statements from the president that he had at one point barred him from his Florida property.
Raskin also mentions names being redacted like...Trump's, of course. Not mentioned in the article is that he's seen references to girls of ages 17, 16, 14, 11, 10, and even one who was 9.

I don't know if the 9yo Raskin mentions is due to one of the DOJ's "formatting errors," but nevertheless this is the kind of information that wants me to stick a shovel down Megyn Kelly's throat, and all the rest like her.

Hiw can she plead the 5th, she is already convicted. Why are they letter her even try to do that.

Also, she apparently asked for a bribe during the hearing in the form of a pardon. She would testify Trump and Clinton were innocent for a pardon basically. Guess what, younare useless now anyway if that is the case.

Asking for a pardon in exchange for what would obviously be a dishonest testimony was weirdly funny and useless. Though I'm sure some MAGAt's who only watch right wing media would eat up her fake testimony anyway. It's about the court of public opinion, not the real courts.

She is useless enough, at this point, to be window dressing as long as she can balance on the sill.

That is an interesting phrase! lol. I don't know what Drumpf will do, obviously, but I got feeling he will not pardon her, since it would look bad and her word is obviously worth nothing... but it also wouldn't totally shock me if he makes this deal with her just so right wing media can show her bribed testimony out of context as if that exonerated anybody.

Obviously she is guilty of way more than what she's been convicted of.

It also occurs to me that the reason she made that offer the way she did - she doesn't want to get out. She might feel safe in prison - in spite of what happened to Jeffrey.

...but indicated that if President Donald Trump ended her prison sentence, she was willing to testify that neither he nor former President Bill Clinton had done anything wrong in their connections with Epstein.
Welcome to the USA, 2026. There's no truth; just bargaining chips. "Okay. We'll let your boy off the hook if you let our boy off the hook."

JFC. She should just publish a menu of available testimony.

Trump Innocent: 1 Pardon
Add: Trump dick is huge: $500,000
Note: Must include Clinton Innocent
Trump Innocent w/Clinton Guilty: 1 Pardon + $10m
Lindsay Graham Straight: Market Price

She does have an active appeal waiting to be heard, launched after her interview with the DoJ.

I don't see how her attorney could not have advised her to exercise her right to refuse to testify while there's a live court action, and the possibility of a retrial if her appeal is successful.

Trump's statements about Epstein and Maxwell in the past are contradicting things he's said more recently. Surprise, surprise.

A former Florida police chief said he received a call from Donald Trump in 2006 in which the now-president told him "everyone" knows about Jeffrey Epstein’s behaviour, according to an FBI document released by the justice department.

The document is a written record of a 2019 FBI interview with the former Palm Beach police chief, who alleges Trump called him after the department launched an investigation into Epstein and said: "Thank goodness you're stopping him, everyone has known he's been doing this."
The president has consistently denied any wrongdoing in relation to Epstein and has said he did not know about his crimes. The alleged call, however, is likely to raise further questions about what Trump knew and when.

Asked by reporters in 2019 - when Epstein was arrested by federal agents for sex trafficking - if he had "any suspicions" about the disgraced financier, Trump said: "No, I had no idea. I had no idea. I haven't spoken to him in many, many years."
Oh my...
Reiter also claims Trump told him Ghislaine Maxwell was Epstein's "operative", and "she is evil and to focus on her".

Maxwell was convicted in 2021 for her role in luring underage girls for Epstein.

Reiter also told the FBI that Trump said he was around Epstein when he was with teenagers and that he "got the hell out of there".

According to the document, he said Trump was one of the "very first people to call" Florida police when he heard they were investigating Epstein.
One of the first? Wow, that should be quite an important thing to make note of at Trump's DOJ , yes?
In a statement to the BBC, a justice department official said: "We are not aware of any corroborating evidence that the president contacted law enforcement 20 years ago."

At a briefing on Tuesday, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt was asked about the reported call and said it "may or may not have happened in 2006. I don't know the answer."
They are really on top of it.

Noting that Trump said to the Palm Beach police chief about Maxwell: "she is evil." And yet back in 2020:

Trump on Ghislaine Maxwell: ‘I wish her well’

A weird thing to wish to someone you once considered evil.
