My concern is, who is asking for them?
Idiots. I was just reading another discussion on these.

The two main reasons people want them are either (1) they put a string of lights on their Christmas tree the wrong way round or (2) they want to plug a generator into a wall outlet to power their house in a blackout. Both uses lead to electric shocks and fire risk.

Aside from the shock and fire hazards, which are numerous, using one of those cords to plug in Uncle Cletus's generator energizes the high-voltage line, gravely endangering the power company folks trying to fix the outage. That's why grown-up generator installations include an automatic isolation switch.

It's best to plug in the Christmas lights FIRST to make sure they actually work before going through all the trouble of putting them up, and it also prevents you from putting them up backwards. Yea, I've got experience with both mistakes.

And that there are people that would actually consider using cords like that scare me.

Christmas lights are just stupid. Using a cord like that with backup generators to a wall outlet is also stupid. A little more understandable though since someone doesn't want to run extension cords to everything they need in the house, some of which don't have plugs.
