It would make a great conversation piece though.

I want to see someone who's drunk open and close them.
Exactly: It is a perfect place to store the whisky or other booze.
It automatically detects when you've had enough.

I don't even drink and I'm sure I would completely break that shizzle on day one

I don't know. The smarter ones will open it for the first drink and then leave it open.

This was the original design for this kind of door, with two triangles in each panel. The movement is smooth and doesn't need to be hand-guided.

Adding a third triangle is the trendy thing now but it doesn't seem to do anything but make it fiddlier and less robust. Every video I can find you can see the user carefully guiding the extra flap through the movement.

So, cool, until one party decides to exit the room by slamming the door. How do you keep a dog or cat from abusing it or being hurt by it? How does it isolate sound from the two spaces being separated? There are good reasons why these things remain curiosities and haven't entered daily lives.

What I was getting at is that the one in the first video is clunkier than it needs to be, not that it's a practical door.

They're interesting, beyond doubt, whether two or three panel. And if the problems of cost and practicality are ever solved and I needed a new door, I'd certainly consider them, just to watch them work on a daily basis.
