Iron Druid is a bit ST Discovery in that everything, every single thing, goes wrong, then gets worse, then goes to Hell, then resolves. It's an engaging world though and the characters are fun. I have not read the last book because I'm happy with everybody's status...
after the vampire war, with Zeus supposedly holding Artemis at bay, and Loki being relatively quiet.
Thank You Jopsy for the references. Some are on hold in Camelia Net and I will read them as they come.
Yeah the Iron Druid series is definitely a "Just because you have the power to right a wrong, or pay a debt, doesn't mean you -should-. The main character, try as he might, fixes one thing by breaking another.

I did prefer the Ink & Sigil spin-off a lot more actually. It seems 'complete' now and wrapped up in a way I found very satisfying. Hopefully there'll be more of "Gladis Who's Seen Some Shite" in Hearne's future works. :)

I'm just finishing "All the Colors of the Dark" by Chris Whitaker and I highly recommend it! It's not the type of book I usually read but I'll be following this author. It's a fairly large book (586 pages) but I've gone thru it fast because it's so engrossing. You care about each character & the little town they live in. It's even brought me to tears several times & that rarely happens. Read the link for a description of the story. Try to get it from your local library like I did. :)

I just finished The Ballad of Smallhope and Pennyroyal by Jodi Taylor, which is a story that comes out of her Chronicles of St Mary's and Time Police series of books (of which there are a LOT). I've never picked up anything by Taylor before, but might do so again - if I can find a way into her stuff that doesn't get me stuck in a 6 month read along.

Anyway, now I find myself in a reread of Ash: A Secret History by Mary Gentle. Speaking of a long read along (it's like 1,200 pages!).

If you know anything about these stories, you might see a need in me for some bad ass women who say fuck a lot.

I’ve just started Fourth Wing, the first book in The Empyrean Series, by Rebecca Yarros.
It’s a YA series about a military college for dragon riders, and my nieces have read it so they want me to read it ha ha. One of them really looooves it and kept going on about how great it was, but kept trying to warn me that it had some romance in it, and that It was a tad racy, and it’s a bit silly, and and and… as if she was worried I would think it dumb maybe? (Oh, c’est délicieux! Oui, mais c’est “spicy”, Isa) I think she said that three times. Well, I have to read it now! 😄

Anyway, I’m about a quarter through, no spicy yet, but I like it. I’m full in.

Amazon bought the rights a couple of years ago right after the first book came out.

Much enjoying 'Separation of Church and Hate: A Sane Person's Guide to taking back the Bible from Fundamentalists, Fascists and Flock-Fleecing Frauds' by John Fugelsang.
He generally debunks and corrects a lot of the Christian Bible thumper propaganda use of Bible verses. The style has a mostly enlightened spiritual flow versus religious push. It uses irony, fact-correction, and often tongue-in-cheek questioning to highlight and mock the absurdities.
This book could make far-right Christian nationalist fundamentalists sputter as they see red and purple, imho.
