Why was I listening to this? It is the darkest song I know. It is wonderful to my ears but heartbreaking. Once every 10 years or so I will listen intently to this 25 minute piece.

The lyrics are in French, notably a line ending in de le long misiere (bad typing guess probably) which translates to "Oh Satan please pity me in my deep distress" which is from Baudelaire's Litanies of Satan. This is about listening, not the lyrics though. No French knowledge required.
