Yes Karneval, Fastelovend...in Limburg seems very similiar like here in the neighbouring german Rhineland...
I read that only the carnival-dresses in Limburg are more colourfull with the prevailing colours: red, yellow and green since centuries.
It is said :
Red stands for love and passion, yellow for humour and justice and green for balance and togethernes

Yup, Vasteloavend in Limburg is , apart from local traditions, very similar to the Karneval in Köln (Colonge).
In Limburg you will not hear a party song in Dutch or English during the Vastelaovend. Only in the Limburg dialect.... and....... the karneval songs from Köln.
Die Höhner and the Bläck Fööss do their concerts in Limburg very successfully as well every year.

About red, yellow and blue: We even have a Vastelaovend flag in Limburg.
