  • Keeping the Epstein files hid
  • Reducing expenditures by not paying federal workers
  • Blocking opposition to Trump's illegal wartime and economic overreach
  • Blaming it all on immigrants and Democrats who're just trying to defend ACA from destruction
  • Blocking congressional oversight/investigation into Trump extorting bribes/concessions out of major broadcasting/media corporations and foreign interests
  • Food and banking Regulators furloughed letting slide who knows how many violations
  • Threatening the needy with starvation, increasing the hardship not just on them by the working class who already struggle with helping extended family members in need, increasing bankruptcies, foreclosures and repossessions.
The Dems could roll over and give up on the ACA today, and that absolute shit stain Johnson would still find a way to keep the federal government "shutdown" indefinitely. (Not including ICE of course.). They're getting everything they wanted for years out of this.

I keep hoping that's going to be the cause of their (hard) downfall, because they're going to get the results of all this crap.

It has been great fun for them to "pwn the libs," but now that we're officially pwned, it's time to produce some of that oft-promised and never-delivered Greatness.

I'm just exhausted. Emotionally, mentally, you name it. Trump has been in the news for far FAR too long and has done enough damage to earn him another impeachment or 10.

I'm in line to vote in CA. I always go in person if I can.

The line is out the door at my polling place. In 25 years, I've never had to stand in a line more than 3 deep. (It being lunch time might be affecting it today, I usually come earlier or later). Very progressive area, and the redistricting issue is the only one on the ballot. This bodes well for it passing.

(edited to fix phone auto-corrupts, sigh)

We just have local races and bond measures. No Federal offices or statewide measures. It was quick.

People are already to a large extent sorted politically into Costco v. Sam's Club. Republicans did damage to Budweiser because (1) it was something they actually bought and (2) there were many interchangeable "beers" right next to Bud on the shelf. They keep promising to boycott things that they don't generally buy or that don't have clear alternatives, and that goes nowhere.

Oh hey, are the Trump tariffs dead in the water yet?

President Donald Trump on Monday imposed 50% tariffs on most Canadian goods, declaring that Canada has unfairly discriminated against American autos, alcohol and dairy products.

The move could unleash a new wave of economic chaos, with risks of higher inflation and further fraying of relations between two nations that had been closely woven together before Trump’s return to the White House. The administration official previewing the action said that Canada was one of the only nations other than China that retaliated against Trump’s previous tariffs and must be held accountable.
The official insisted on anonymity on a call with reporters to preview the president’s actions and said that Trump signed three proclamations to launch the tariffs under Section 338 of the 1930 Trade Act. Several Democratic lawmakers last year proposed repealing the section because they said Trump could use it to destabilize the economy.
But it won't destabilize Trump's money making schemes!

It's really not at all surprising... that's how people like him work. He will just keep trying until he gets his way. It is not possible to reason with him.

Instead of obsequious boot-licking, we responded to his punitive tariffs with a consequence. He doth not like this. His first retaliation this round was to blame his new high tariff punishment on lightning-created fires and smoke, not 'sweeping our forest grounds well enough lol', then twists it again to say he's punishing us for being meanies. He also conveniently 'forgot' how much Canada aided America in last year's U.S. fire nightmares.
My question is: which lie is it, Orange Goblin? Get your untruths straight.

No need to! His supporters are good at double think. Meaning they can believe blatant contradictions.
