This is the Limbach 550 engine. It is a German designed and produced engine for motorgliders and introduced in 1987.

Iranian Shahed 136 drones are using a non-licensed copy of that engine, which is named Mado MD550. Same applies to Russian and Chinese drones of that type.

Interestingly though the Iranian produced copies of that engine do last far longer in air (20 hours) than the Russian clones (4-5 hours). Chinese produced clones even last less (1-2 hours). So it's really interesting that Iran is producing the best copy cat engines here by a far margin.

The American LUCAS drone, which is based on reverse engineered Shahed ones, is using a different type of motor.

All wars are horrible and this is no exception. However the US-Iran War of 2026 will never be the most horrible war in US history, the longest, the most destructive, etc. That is a good thing. However, something pretty horrible is unfolding in front of us. The US government is being used as a tool to corruptly enrich certain people, to a tune of billions of $’s. And that means US service personnel and Iranian civilians (the people who are suffering the most in this war) are being sacrificed so that others who have enriched themselves through their loss can enrich themselves further.
