There's so much disturbing about this, but this aspect seems to be particularly galling to me.

I've known military people all my life. While I'm proud to declare myself a dyed-in-the-wool peacenik hippie, I'm also grounded enough to realize that we have some extraordinarily dedicated, decent, and smart folks in our military. (I also am realistic enough to know there are some damn evil forces in the world from whom my sorry butt is protected by said dedicated folks.) There is absolutely no way they had not fully anticipated that Iran's response to a serious attack would be to rain hellfire on anyone in their area friendly to the US. Hell, I could have figured that out if I had put my mind to it, I think, but they would have worked out exactly how much hellfire by which hellfire delivery system. Yet, it is becoming glaringly obvious that we took absolutely no steps --- NONE --- to protect those friendly countries from the consequences of our stupidity. Did the idea not even get raised in the planning for this? Please. I'm not in the "believe 2,000 impossible things before dinnertime" business today. It got raised and shot down.

If the Reich hasn't purged all but the most toadying supporters, there must be upper-echelon military folks barfing in wastebaskets over this travesty.

There is a certain poetry to the hellfire delivery system raining hellfire down on Amazon facilities.

Iran tried to hit the UK military base Diego Garcia with its missiles. One failed in flight, the other was shot down by an US warship.

Question remains still if Iran has indeed missiles with a 4000 mile range, which is about the distance Diego Garcia is away from it.

IEA is warning that the Iran war will create the biggest energy crisis in history, bigger than the oil shocks of the 70s.

“The war in the Middle East is creating a major energy crisis, including the largest supply disruption in the history of the global oil market. In the absence of a swift resolution, the impacts on energy markets and economies are set to become more and more severe,” said IEA Executive Director Fatih Birol. “As the global energy authority, the IEA is doing everything we can to support the stability of energy markets. We have recently launched the largest ever release of IEA emergency oil stocks – and I am in close contact with key governments around the world, including major energy producers and consumers, as part of our international energy diplomacy. In addition to this, today’s report provides a menu of immediate and concrete measures that can be taken on the demand side by governments, businesses and households to shelter consumers from the impacts of this crisis. It draws on the IEA’s decades of expertise in this field and highlights measures that have been proven to work in practice in different contexts. I believe it will be of use to governments around the world, in both advanced and developing economies, in these challenging times.”

Yes, the price of diesel per litre here in East Coast Aust has almost doubled over the last two weeks
The highest price I've seen on social media so far has been $3.40/L (that's about $12.90/gallon).

Oh yeah, anyone who is not an idiot "Might makes right" bukly is long gone. They probably fully expected to strike Iran. Iran would go all "Such a big penis Mr USA, we surrender, please, your Penis is so huge."

It is not only about the oil exports, but also petrochemical products: plastic, fertilizer, urea - you name it.

This is intrerrupting global supply chains at a large scale right now. It will hit farming, cosmetic, medicine and many other areas very soon.
Last time oil prices skyrocketed, the price of everything plastic rose like 50% and just stayed there.

I'd say it's an absolute certainty. As was suggested in the link I posted in the Trump Clearly Near Death thread, Trump doesn't so much lie as he hallucinates -- whatever, at any given moment, he wants to be the case becomes reality, until he would prefer it to be something different.

Trump defends his ego in any way he can. He's trying to convince himself as much anyone else.
