President Donald Trump has decided he’s going to the last-minute global gathering of the nation’s top generals in Quantico, Virginia, that Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth ordered last week.
Trump’s appearance not only upstages Hegseth’s plans, but adds new security concerns to the massive and nearly unprecedented military event.
“We have confirmation from the White House that POTUS is now attending the speech on Tuesday,” a planning document sent Saturday and viewed by The Washington Post states.
Uh huh, sure.Notice went out to offices around the Pentagon that the decision will “significantly change the security posture” of the speech, set for Tuesday morning.
War ravaged Portland. Under siege from attack by Antifa. Sounds bad.President Trump said on Saturday he's ordered the deployment of troops to Portland, Ore., describing the city as "war ravaged," as he continues to push for the use of military force in states he purports are plagued with crime.
Trump said the Defense Department, which he referred to as the "Department of War," would send troops to the city to safeguard ICE detention facilities.
"I am directing Secretary of War, Pete Hegseth, to provide all necessary Troops to protect War ravaged Portland, and any of our ICE Facilities under siege from attack by Antifa, and other domestic terrorists," Trump wrote in the post. "I am also authorizing Full Force, if necessary."
When asked whether he was still sending troops to Portland, which he described as "War ravaged" in a social media post Saturday, Trump said his administration would make a decision on that "pretty soon."
"Well, I mean, we're certainly looking at it," Trump said. "You can't have that. We don't want that. They're attacking our ICE facility and they're attacking other federal buildings."
Later Sunday, the Trump administration did make the decision to deploy troops to the state, federalizing 200 Oregon National Guard members, effective immediately, for 60 days. The state of Oregon and the city of Portland filed a federal lawsuit against the Trump administration in response.
During a Sunday morning phone interview with NBC White House Correspondent Yamiche Alcindor, though, Trump made some remarks that seemed to indicate he might be backing off his military plan for Portland.
A stable genius having a normal one...

Electronic Arts, maker of video games like “Madden NFL,” “Battlefield,” and “The Sims,” is being acquired for $52.5 billion in what could become the largest-ever buyout funded by private-equity firms.
The private equity firm Silver Lake Partners, Saudi Arabia’s sovereign wealth fund PIF, and Affinity Partners will pay EA’s stockholders $210 per share. The companies value the deal at about $55 billion, including debt. Affinity Partners is run by President Donald Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner.
PIF, which was already the largest insider stakeholder in Electronic Arts, will be rolling over its existing 9.9% stake in the company.
The commitment to the massive deal is inline with recent activity by Saudi Arabia’s sovereign wealth fund, wrote Andrew Marok of Raymond James.
Someone needs to ask Trump what he did with the tiny giraffe.Yeah, the only "freak out" I can imagine is more the internal shock wonder of "WTF did this dude do to this office????"
And then snapping back realizing he is asking what theh think and a stammered "Well its uh... certainly gold... looking."
