Ukrainian drones attacked the Moscow Oil Refinery (MNPZ) for the second time this week on the morning of Thursday, June 18, Mayor Sergei Sobyanin announced.

“Air defense forces continue repelling a massive attack. Several drones managed to reach the MNPZ. Measures are being taken to mitigate the consequences,” Sobyanin wrote on Telegram.

Located just 15 kilometers (9 miles) from the Kremlin, the MNPZ, owned by Gazprom Neft, supplies up to 40% of Moscow’s fuel market and around 70% of gasoline consumed in Moscow and the surrounding region.

Valeriy Salushnyi, former supreme commander of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and ambassador in London at the moment, has informed Volodymyr Selenskyi in a confidential meeting in Kyiv that he wants to run for presidency fall this year.

If this report by Ukranian Pravda comes true it is the biggest interior challenge Selenskiy will have to face since years. So far nobody has officially confirmed it yet.

Russia closes railway border crossings with Finland, Estonia and Latvia

In an unexpected move, Russia announced several railway border crossings with Finland, Estonia and Latvia to be “temporarily” shut down. Could this indicate an upcoming mobilisation in Russia as Moscow lacks troops for its ongoing all-out war against Ukraine?

The Kremlin's order released on Tuesday did not provide a reason for the closures.

The statement mentions only a "temporary suspension" of the movement of people, vehicles, goods and cargo through selected railway crossings along sections of the Russian state border.

Russia’s armed forces are aiming to capture the remaining 20 percent of Ukraine’s partially occupied eastern Donetsk region by the end of the year, having – according to Kyiv – failed to meet 14 previous deadlines.

At Russia’s current rate of advance, President Vladimir Putin’s forces will need 5,150 days, or 14 years, to complete the task – in addition to the 12 years Russian-aligned forces have already been fighting to seize Donetsk from Kyiv’s control.

If Putin wants to send another million of his soldiers to keep fighting against this wall, then these million Russians, who have not yet been mobilised into the Russian army and are queuing for gasoline, should think about what awaits them next,” said Ukraine’s president.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy was referring to the 1.4 million Russian casualties since the war began, estimated by the Center for Strategic International Studies on July 1 .
