The international community must look beyond the veneer of these aid compounds and confront the grim reality they represent. We must condemn a system that uses the promise of food to force a desperate population through militarized chokepoints. But more urgently, we must demand an answer to the most pressing question this data raises: Where are the missing 377000 Palestinians?

Everyone knows they're mostly buried under rubble, somewhere.

Devi Sridhar, chair of global public health at the University of Edinburgh, says she found Trump's numbers "puzzling" — and a potential confirmation that the death toll is actually much higher, something researchers, doctors and public health experts have long said was the case

I take Beebo's point; there's no real way to stop the slaughter unless the US butts out and/or some way is found to put pressure on or remove Netanyahu, who still faces prison if convicted, and seeks to delay that case for as long as possible.

At this point, when I rarely see a mainstream news report on the topic, I see Israeli spokespersons repeating tired lies; no genocide, no targeting of civilians, no this, no that, and oops, we made another mistake and killed more aid workers...and we're investigating it ourselves!

Time to take another look at all the lies the global mainstream press uncritically published word-for-word around events of October 7, 2023, this time with skepticism due to all the lies spouted since then, as they were used to manufacture consent, an excuse to bomb the hell outta Gaza and kill all these Palestinians.
Why do you think anyone needs to "manufacture consent"? Consider the amount of effort devoted to manufacturing consent for the invasion of Iraq back in 2003, with reports over months about weapons of mass destruction and UN resolutions and so on, as compared to what's just happened with the US just going ahead and bombing Iran because Trump wants to and who's going to stop him?

I don't know about you, but no one has ever asked me if I consented to a whole lot of things that have happened over the years, and they went ahead and happened nevertheless, even though on several occasions I, and hundreds of thousands of other people, protested and demonstrated against them most vociferously.

I don't think you, me, or anyone else on this forum is the target of this misinformation campaign.

The Israeli hugely non-proportional response to the Hamas incursion and its press coverage gave many bad actors an excuse to support the Israeli "right to defend itself." By genocide.

Manufacturing Consent for Genocide

I mean, the widespread reports of the Hamas beheading babies lie was debunked by Israeli press long before the western press caught up.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hamas_baby_beheading_hoax

If anyone still thinks this issue began with the Hamas incursion, then the "Tantura" doc is horrifying and eye-opening watching.

https://www.npr.org/2023/01/27/1152140555/an-israeli-documentary-challenges-a-narrative-of-what-happened-in-one-palestinia

Tantura is now a beach resort, with mass graves under one of its parking lots, the likely fate of most of Gaza, if Bibi and Rump get their way.

One of the purposes of pardon power is to deliver a country (I remember the pardon of Richard M. Nixon) from a terrible fate, a fate caused by the proper execution of its laws. So I asked MS Copilot who has such power in the Israeli government, to deliver Israel from Netanyahu's struggle to avoid jail. The answer:

In Israel, the authority to grant pardons lies with the President of the State of Israel, as outlined in Basic Law: The President of the State. This includes the power to pardon individuals or commute sentences, even in cases involving serious charges.

So yes, the Israeli president could, in theory, issue a pardon for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu if he were convicted of crimes. However, such a move would be highly controversial, especially given the political and legal complexities surrounding Netanyahu’s ongoing trials and the broader public scrutiny of judicial independence in Israel.

It’s worth noting that while the president holds this constitutional power, it’s traditionally exercised with caution and often based on recommendations from the Ministry of Justice or after legal proceedings have concluded. The political ramifications of pardoning a sitting or former prime minister—particularly one still in office—would be profound.
Then I asked whether the Israeli president could pardon Netanyahu prior to his trial. The answer:
In theory, yes—the President of Israel does have the constitutional authority to issue a pardon at any stage, including before a trial begins. However, in practice, this would be extraordinarily rare and politically explosive.

President Isaac Herzog has publicly stated that a pardon for Prime Minister Netanyahu is “not currently on the table” and emphasized his commitment to the rule of law. He also noted that no formal request for clemency has been made1. While the law doesn’t explicitly prohibit a pre-trial pardon, such an act would likely provoke intense legal, political, and public backlash—especially given the high-profile nature of the charges and the ongoing judicial proceedings.

So while it's legally possible, it's not something that would be done lightly or without significant consequences.

So, to me, this says, only Israel has the power to deliver itself from the struggles of Netanyahu to avoid jail, which is what I believe ultimately motivates Bibi. Everything he does is a cover story with thousands of lives sacrificed for him to avoid jail.

Can we rename this thread Nobody Cares The Israeli Government Has Become The Monster?

Especially as the new aid distribution plan funnels starving Palestinians into IDF free-fire zones.

"It's a killing field," one soldier said. "Where I was stationed, between one and five people were killed every day. They're treated like a hostile force – no crowd-control measures, no tear gas – just live fire with everything imaginable: heavy machine guns, grenade launchers, mortars. Then, once the center opens, the shooting stops, and they know they can approach. Our form of communication is gunfire."
https://www.haaretz.com/israel-news/2025-06-27/ty-article-magazine/.premium/idf-soldiers-ordered-to-shoot-deliberately-at-unarmed-gazans-waiting-for-humanitarian-aid/00000197-ad8e-de01-a39f-ffbe33780000

Phone video and audio evidence, especially from a dead aid worker's phone extracted from his pocket (after he was buried him in a mass grave), backs claims the IDF intentionally kills civilians, targets children with head shots, while still proclaiming itself "the most moral army." Compared to Vlad the Impaler's?
