So the hunt has started.
I scanned at least a dozen sims with the result of 1 (read one) pumpkin found. The one I put out my self.
Not even one other house to be found with some Halloween decoration.

That ends my hunt

I had a pumpkin and some decormover in Duncan's Brae. I think that's the name of my region. So apparently we are not neighbors.

Alright, I flew all the way from East to West and came across 11 buckets. 2 of which were mine. I also encountered a lot fo security orbs. Why is this a thing. Some were not so bad since they would boot you to a nearby parcel, but teleporting home is annoying, thankfully if only happened once. I believe 2 of the 11 buckets were on land with active orbs, but at least there was 15 seconds to run in and out.

You know what the rel biggest issue of this being a competition is? It discourages community. It's in "my best interests" to not make a list of buckets to share. Because that encourages "the competition" ie "the community" to work against me.

I have found 90....because the people in Bellisseria Citizens most certainly ARE sharing locations and lists. Seriously, the most community-minded Bellisserians aren't really competing. I mean they were telling how many they had but also sharing lists and locations as they are found. I figure most Bellisserians are hoping LL changes their mind in the future and gives everyone all the bears. I Bellipin'd mine in Otisburg and Melville Deep, so get the Free BelliFind HUD, head to Otisberg and Melville Deep and you'll find them.

... well they forgot an incentive to put them out. "Put these out and have randos wandering into your parcel." leads to one reaction: "Why should I?"
Most Bellisserians don't care that much about people outside their houses on the porches/yards/walkways inside the property lines and whatnot...and that's where they are putting them. There are even a few people who put them in the house and show off their interior decorations. There's a segment of the Bellisseria Community that LIKES showing off their homes and has an open door policy. While I generally don't have an open door policy yet in Bellisseria, the locks on my Linden Homes are set to myself and my alt (who is the owner of the Trad). I don't mind people in my yard, don't use orb security, and if some Belli community regular I know said knock/knock, I'd let them in.

Man, I thought I was doing good with my 20, I need to stop up my game.

I did run into a tiny baby Bob Ross while wandering around, which was amusing. Plus some Wulf Linden and Sergal Mole who were near these hauted houses in a little park.

The Ministry of Truth declared it a success:

Top collector had 218 candy, how many homes does Belli have?

When did we get the freebie bear anyway?

I don't remember seeing it.

Maybe next year LL will do one that everyone can put a candy bowl out for and make it grid wide for those who want to participate. No one trick or treated my house that I know of this year. Or last year. Or the year before. Or the year before... I must be some kind of mean and hateful without knowing it and everyone is too scared(?) of me to tell me anything. I just don't understand any of it. I don't understand why I'm always getting shoved out into the cold.

Probably not due to the experiences requirement.

Why would it require experiences? For the prize? My candy bowl was one I bought on the MP and as far as I can tell it works fine. All it would need is some LSL added to the script to accumulate figures on an LL database. If the script were mod. So why can't LL script their candy bowls to do the same for everyone without needing an Experience? Not to bring up bad news but others have done similar. But what I'm talking about doing doesn't record anything more than the UUID and the number of candies given out from that bowl and it's handled by LL. From what I've read that's how they determined the winner. Not by who grabbed the most candy.

Of course, not being able to participate myself, I have no idea how they set it up. All I know is it would be relatively simple to script a candy bowl to include all who want to join in without using Experiences. It doesn't make sense to me that LL wouldn't be willing to allow everyone, no matter where they live on the grid, to participate.

My initial reply was based on educated guesses and assumptions, as I do not know for sure the methods LL are using. But -- I am assuming LL is using the KVP system for the trick or treat thing they did, which in itself is a component of the experience system. This allows them to keep it all "inworld" without the use of an external database. All LL needs to do is flip on the experience for the Bellisseria estate/continent and all landowners are opted in. From a quick scouting just now: Linden Homes 2 *IS* a grid-scope experience that I think everyone is opted into, and Bellisseria is a different estate than "Mainland".

I would also guess that the scripts are no-mod because they're compiled toward that experience, and/or are contacting an external database. Leaving those mod is asking for trouble.

As someone who has been neck deep in working with experiences since it came out, I know all the benefits and limitations of using them. From what I can tell LL likes using experiences where they can, because it's easier than setting up a special database. I think those are the reasons it's limited to that set of "estates".

It is understandable that people are chuffed about mainland not being included, but LL has a lot less control of mainland than the new swathes of land they have been developing. Also, Linden Homes is a draw for premium account signups. So there's that.

Are experience components not stored in another database? Are they stuffed into the asshat farm along with everything else? I wonder that they don't store them in a sim's local database like they used to manage user logins and online status.

I'm not on mainland and I can't afford premium so there's that. Welp, that's one less thing to look forward to every year from now on. :grr:

Yeah considering how the bears are like their private company meme, you would think someone should have built a 1 LI mesh and simple texture to hand out to employees to use. I mean sure, they would all be shaped the same and not as accessorirized but at least maybe they would be useful.
