I have to say that I do wish they'd stop showing black families as the face of the family's suffering because of SNAP being on pause. It is reinforcing stereotypes. The majority of SNAP users are white, and seeing white people MIGHT elicit pity from the MAGA morons whereas seeing a black mother crying because she can't feed her kids beings joy to their shriveled black hearts.

I think it is entirely possible Trump doesn't remember much about Fuentes. To Trump, he's just one of thousands of right wing grifters who likes him. I also doubt Trump personally invited him to Mar-a-Lago versus an assistant.

That said, it's clear many right wingers like Carlson and others have a problem with antisemitism. Their support for Israel comes from hating Muslims more.

Lengthy (though entertaining, and somewhat alarming) post about the far right. First half is about the UK, second about the US, particularly Tucker Carlson, Nick Fuentes and the rest.

And what about Trump? Earlier this month he promoted to the post of Deputy General Counsel of the General Services Administration; a man called Paul Ingrassia. Wikipedia’s entry on Ingrassia tells us that he has advocated that the descendants of slaves pay reparations to the descendants of slave owners, written of Vivek Ramaswamy that one “should never trust a Chinaman or an Indian”, and expressed the view that “We need competent white men in positions of leadership” and that Republicans should reject the view that “all men are created equal”. The October 7th Hamas attack on Israel was an Israeli “psyop”, 9/11 was an inside job and Nick Fuentes is an important voice who should be brought inside the Republican laager.

It’s unlikely that Trump cares one way or the other. His attitude being “Nazi, schmazi, who cares what he is as long as he loves his president”. But Trump is not eternal. Someone else – someone who is thinking about it right now – is going to be the Republican candidate in 2028 and though they will face one way to the faithful in the primaries, the full electorate awaits on the other side.

Both statements can be true. The hardcore bible thumpers are very concerned about those biblical prophesies, yes. But many of the more "moderate" republicans like the ones in my family aren't interested in those prophecies. I think many less religious conservatives simply hate Muslims still and see Israel as the enemy of their enemy.

Curtis' situation is likely the more racist, but I think Zarin's is the dumbist. Not only was she "upset" by Bad Bunny grabbing his crotch "every five seconds" (has she never watched a sports broadcast?), but also there were "literally no white people in the entire thing.” Is Lady Gaga too Italian for her?

A man who was shot by police and later died had to wait 10 extra minutes for an ambulance after an officer having a “mild anxiety attack” took the first one that arrived at the scene, according to a newly released state investigation.

Dyshan Best, 39, was shot in the back last year as he fled from officers in Bridgeport, Connecticut. A report released Tuesday by the state’s inspector general found that the shooting was justified because Best had a gun in his hand and the officer pursuing him had reasons to fear for his own safety.

But the report raised questions about what took place after the March 31 shooting, which left Best, who was Black, bleeding with severe internal injuries.

The report by Inspector General Eliot Prescott did not say whether the delay in waiting for another ambulance contributed to Best’s death.

I'm sure it didn't help.

The officer was later reported saying she was fine, but just needed to get out of there. The same could be said of Best.

Terri Sewell slams RFK over Black children on ADHD meds needing to be ‘reparented’

An Alabama congresswoman on Thursday slammed Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. over comments from two years ago suggesting Black children taking ADHD medication be “reparented.”

Kennedy denied to Rep. Terri Sewell, D-Birmingham, that he made the remarks during a 2024 podcast interview.

“In a 2024 podcast interview, you suggested that Black children on ADHD medication should be ‘reparented.’ You said every Black kid is now just standardly put on Adderall, SSRIs, benzos, which are known to induce violence, and that those children are going to have to go somewhere to get ‘reparented,’” Sewell told Kennedy during the secretary’s testimony Thursday before the House Ways and Means Committee.

“There is a lot to unpack in that comment,” Sewell continued.

Even evaluating everything else said by the cavalcade of clown rejects from this administration, that may be the understatement of the year, Rep. Sewell.

“I don’t even know what that phrase means,” Kennedy responded. “I’m not gonna answer something that I didn’t say.”

Trump himself is such a cluster it is hard to keep track of all the bad things his administration is doing. RFK gets made fun of a lot, but not talked about seriously enough. Him jacking up our vaccine mandates and all health advice is probably just as bad for Americans as most of what Trump himself is doing.
