I spent a few months once converting a metric assload of Word documentation by hand and hand-written scripts to maintainable HTML+CSS static files because Microsoft's Woprd-to-HTML that was once actually pretty good just kept getting worse and worse and generating bigger and bigger files that didn't look right on anything but Microsoft's browsers and the creatives wanted to start over and spend a year re-writing it from scratch in some framework that it turned out was abandoned in less than a year.

I went through half this crap except instead of Dreamweaver I bought this book

Because it was a) The most affordable HTML book at the book store, only like $20, b) It was as thick as a thick phone book!
I have their Linux Complete book, because.... it was the a)most affordable Linux book online, only like $20, b)It was as thick as a thick phone book!
:)

I think the HTML book I had was a chapter in a basic Internet book or something. I manually typed HTML into the tripod/geocities editor because I was on WebTV. In 2002 On Linux I had whatever. Including Mozilla's Composer. Which I would try to use if it still existed. I think even the supposed successor projects like Kompozer and BlueGriffon are defunct. I think SeaMonkey still has the composer but it hasn't been updated for modern HTML I think. In 2003 on windows I think had a version of CoffeeCup HTML or HoTMeTaL or something.

I found out how to download Mosaic off a local BBS, barely getting it to run on my PC, and went to work.
Oooh. I never got to use Mosaic.

In this way I wrote about 75% of what I called my hypertext novel (you do not want to read it...).
If it has catgirls, then yes....yes I do.

(Delphi offered text-based internet services, but you could jury-rig a "winsock" connection through them),
I remember reading about that.

So basically, I was one the smug assholes who mocked people for having to use Frontpage Express, Dreamweaver, and similar kinds of tools. :p
Ha ha ha ha, doing the Goddess's work there, Free.

Then it opens nano,
You MONSTER! I think it should be possible to take Nano out of the equation entirely and have Joplin handle the exporting to HTML.

I had a cheap html guide, HTMLKit as an editor, and W3.org for reference. Officially we were issued Dreamweaver. Nobody checked if you followed University guides. Which included custom fonts they didn't embed.

How about Arena?

I'm still salty Mozilla's broken IMG tag took over instead of the HTML3 FIG tag that was a first class HTML tag with content so you could have the equivalent of alt text that contained full HTML tags and entities.

The sequel will probably be better.

I think I got a used version of that one much later, mostly because "It matches my HTML Book".

I did, and do habe, this Linux book from around that time, maybe a few years later.

It needed to be markdown though, and copy paste is the easiest way to make sure its getting the right content.

I tried to make some Joplin Plug in (not for Hugo) with Claude but it failed and none of them worked.

When I was an actual kid - I think like middle school or early high school - I used a website with a site-building tool called Homestead to make a free website for myself. Geocities after Yahoo bought it out had a similar tool, but the coolest thing about Geocities IMO-back-then was the URL neighborhoods, and Yahoo ditched those in favor of just using your Yahoo account name in the URL which was lame so I didn't bother with them.
