Oh god, please not another "saving the galaxy/universe" story arch. I mean, seriously? Season 2 was about saving that galaxy from Control. Season 3 was about fixing a galaxy wide disruption caused by the burn. And now another episode recovering from something with galaxy wide effects or even more so? This is getting BOOORING!

If Memory Alpha is to be believed, the Federation president is actually a Human-Bajorian-Cardassian hybrid.

President Rillak's ancestry has not been mentioned on screen, but was discussed in interviews with Michelle Paradise and Olatunde Osunsanmi. Paradise described developing a Federation President for DIS Season 4 that would say something "about the world that we're in," and that Human-Bajoran-Cardassian heritage seemed like "an interesting choice" given the history between those species.

Well they are far away in the future, so why not? What would have been more interesting to watch would be a Ferengi as president.
