According to Google, pendants should be hung around 72” from the floor to the base of the light fixture. I think that's probably a little low, because the top of my head is also 72" from the floor and I hate ducking to avoid light fixtures.

I don't think this person was much of a user of the old Internet. It wasn't like that at all in the IRC era.

Similarly, logging into an IRC room was a deliberate action. It was a sign that you were setting aside time to communicate.

Like hell it did. Even before I got a windowed user interface I always had virtual terminals or <screen> and IRC was sitting there in the background, all the time, 24/7. Everyone I knew online was always logged in to IRC 24/7. Even if they weren't online, they had a screen session on a colo box somewhere or a timeshare system they could reconnect to so they didn't miss anything someone had said to them in IRC.

Also, it was a "channel" not a "room". Sheesh.

The YouTuber known as Alex Choi was arrested Wednesday and charged with causing the placement of an explosive or incendiary device on an aircraft, the DOJ said.

A California YouTuber accused of directing a video in which fireworks were shot from a helicopter at a Lamborghini now faces a federal charge over the stunt, the Department of Justice announced on Thursday.

The nearly 11-minute video, dubbed "Destroying a Lamborghini with Fireworks," was posted on the YouTube channel belonging to Alex Choi -- born Suk Min Choi -- last year, according to a federal complaint.

I signed up for the ETrade thing and now it's asking how many shares I am interested in and I think I may just delete my ETrade account instead because this is dumb and Reddit is dumb and I don't need to get caught up in rich people gambling like this.

When they first started out they advertised by having a lower middle class character being snubbed by a beautiful elite, only to have a sheik or some other obvious rich guy come up and acknowledge their tremendous wealth (of the lower middle class type).

That kind of crap flashes red lights all over the place, marketing to to lower middle class based on emotional appeals. It just screams "We're going to lie to you and take advantage of your naivete".
