This is different. I am getting "This site cannot be reached" for facebook.com. I can get everywhere else.
mastodon.world
Lots of subreddits have been relaunched as Lemmy communities or /kbin magazines recently by the same people.Several of the subs I used to read have gone private and I can no longer read the subs. I rarely post anything because a certain person is still stalking me and several others there. So, I haven't bothered messaging any mods to gain access.
People wonder why I claim my online life is shrinking. This is a good example.
Zuck has announced to add ActivityPub support and connect Threads to the Fediverse.I am no big fan of Zuckerberg, but this could be the death of twitter and good riddance.
Threads app: Instagram owner’s Twitter rival logs 5 million users in first hours
[laughs in decentralisation]There is a pattern here.

I don't even like Reddit.Lots of subreddits have been relaunched as Lemmy communities or /kbin magazines recently by the same people.
It may finally be worth for a few more people to take a step outside monolithic, centralised corporate silos and take a look at free-as-in-freedom, open, decentralised, distributed, federated alternatives without billions of advertising budget.
Then let me tell you that while Lemmy is functionally similar to Reddit, it's as un-Corporate America as it ever comes.I don't even like Reddit.
I have never been inside. I've hated Corporate America since I was a child in the 60s.
Communist? WTAF? Do you always insult people you don't know anything about? Then let me tell you that while Lemmy is functionally similar to Reddit, it's as un-Corporate America as it ever comes.
It's Free, Libre, Open-Source Software. It's decentralised with countless independent, non-commercial instances rather than one corporate silo. And the two maintainers are one staunch Maoist and one Ché Guevara re-incarnate. They're so communist that one of their own instances is avoided by everyone but complete, clueless newbies because it seems tankie-friendly, and the other one is as thoroughly and openly tankie as they ever come.
(Tankies = communists who worship Joseph Stalin, Mao Tse-tung, Kim Il-sung & Co. including all their respective atrocities. Or even for their atrocities.)
I understood the part about Lemmy being an option. I didn't ask for one or any.The post was not calling you a communist.
The point as I understand it is that Lemmy is an option that is not corporate owned but with a warning that some servers are full of tankies so avoid the two main instances.
It's known all across the Fediverse, except for absolute newbies, that the two creators and maintainers of Lemmy are, to put it mildly, communists. They don't even try to hide it. In fact, they're very proud of it. All they deny is that they support atrocities against human rights upon communist order (Tiananmen Square 1989, Mao's and Stalin's mass-murders etc). All this is the very reason why the official instances lemmy.ml and lemmygrad.ml have Mali's TLD: It doesn't stand for Mali, though, it stands for Marxism-Leninism.Communist? WTAF? Do you always insult people you don't know anything about?
Ok Looks like I'm going to have to spell it out for you. I don't care. I'm not interested. I'm not on Mastodon or any of those and I do not want to be. Especially if you must have a smartphone/cellphone to register for the platform (looking at Twitter's bs here). Never going to happen. It's known all across the Fediverse, except for absolute newbies, that the two creators and maintainers of Lemmy are, to put it mildly, communists. Also, LEMMYGRAD.ml. Official instance run by the two creators and developers. Named after what the Russian city of St. Petersburg was called when it was still part of the Union of Socialist Soviet Republics, namely Leningrad, in turn named after V.I. Lenin himself. Not to mention that the instance is adorned with hammer-and-sickle in one logo and the silhouette of a Soviet tank in the other, and that the users are being referred to as "comrades".
Many people actually already steer clear of lemmy.ml because it has that tankie stench. lemmygrad.ml is overtly and unabashedly hardcore tankie and takes pride in it.
There's the radio station at Barrow, Alaska but I'm too far away to pick it up.Wonders if there is an NDN, non-profit, public (as in Public Radio, etc) or public service owned instance of Lemmy, Mastadon, or any other non-commercial platform.
