Should We Boycott All Of Fox News Advertisers?

Tell me about it. I've been trying to boycott Nestle for decades, and still finding things they own and trying to avoid them.

And did Nestle care?

The best thing IMHO is what Shiloh is doing these days.
Get involved in the elections. Put on the walking boots. Out on the streets with flyers and motivational talks.
And vote Dems. Even if it is an asshole in your mind as well or when your county, state is Rep as hell.
That should be far more effective than trying to persuade a multinational not to advertise on Fox.

Some boycotts are just a refusal to do business with someone with a long history of very bad business practices. Its not like they are likely to change any time soon.

I know, its why I've been boycotting them for decades, but it seems like something always slips through, until I look at whatever they have now.

The companies will not be impressed. They know who they target when they advertise on Fox.
Most of them run ads on all stations. They are not after spreading the Fox news.
They are after the attention for their products.

I'm not so sure about that.

Most advertising is, I think, about market share, and if brand managers start to see their market share fall because their brand is perceived as being tarnished by its association with Fox, then they may well pay attention.

Yes, usually boycotts do not have much of an impact because you rush back to the product anyways afterward. Boycotting a network works differently though. The boycotted company also has to know they are being boycotted and for what reason.

From the list I only patronize two of the companies. One I infrequently shop at. The other frequently but it would be a lot of effort to move my business elsewhere (with no guarantee the new company would not advertise on fox next week).

Of all those companies to boycott, I don't use many of them already. I'm in no position to buy a car, even though both of ours are down for the count right now. The only ones I use, esurance and Procter & Gamble, will be very hard to do - Especially P&G, since they make damn near everything. I will certainly make an effort to, though.

Yeah, I use Tom's of Maine toothpaste .... but I would not be surprised if P&G owns them. In these days of octopus companies some are harder to avoid than others.

The boycotts of individual Fox shows seems to have been very effective Big advertisers still shunning Ingraham’s Fox News show months after boycotts David Hogg called for the Ingraham boycott and advertisers dropped her fast. That's not to say that a network wide boycott would have the same impact. But that is what is being called for

Well, all but one of those companies are already on my "meh, I wouldn't do business with you anyway" list.

And I only do business with the one exception like -maybe- once a year for trivial purchases that I don't want to pay for shipping on.

They make both Tide and Gain which are like the best laundry detergents on the market. Sorry. Not boycotting. And seriously all those companies exist to make money. To make money they have to sell products. To sell their products they have to advertise (though seriously - who isn't buying toilet paper or laundry detergent?) They couldn't give a rat's ass if the people who buy their products are assholes as long as they get their money.
