Sapphire Nitro+ RX 5700 XT GPU

...

labeled as "supported OSes: Linux, Windows 10, Windows 7" well it comes with adjustable hardware profile and fancy disco lights that cannot be configured/deactivated without Windows, and the official AMD driver for the RX 5700 XT broke my Xorg... I now run it on the Mesa Opensource GPU drivers with NGG disabled or my screen would freeze.

fun fact: the more affordable no fancy lights Sapphire Pulse RX 5700 XT GPU without adjustable hardware profile was not labeled as supporting Linux ... but I am pretty sure I could have used all the features (well, without NGG that is) of that card on a Linux system... so of all those features I shelled out 40 bucks extra to get that Nitro+ edition of the same GPU the only one that actually really works for me now is the bigger cooler (which was my main concern, so I'm still kinda happy with it).

Sapphire is on my do-not-buy list with PNY.

For price, reliability, and the fact that I heave gotten (atypically?) good customer support, I stick with Asus.

From a customer service perspective, I bought a laptop through Newegg with a Core2 Duo and single drive that was DOA. Returned to Asus, and after a couple of weeks emailing about a replacement, they said that spec was out in North America, so they sent me a quad core with two drives. Worth about $300 more than the one I paid for and still running 10 years later.

If I ever build another full system, it'll be Asus or AS-rock based, with an MSI video card.

A helpful suggestion on this, maybe.
That's what I ended up doing after the 3rd breakage. Found a vendor online, with 3 bands for $10. Only one of them has broken so far, over a year later.

iTunes. I could just stop there. What used to be an intuitive, elegant, simple, useful app has evolve into a rancid, malignant, obfuscated, bloated egg-sack for some predatory alien brain-parasite that I never want to have anything to do with ever again.

I smashed my AppleTV after one hellishly long and absolutely unnecessary (and unsuccessful) call to billing support trying to re-up my subscription to finish watching Game of Thrones. They insisted I needed to send a cashier's check. IT WAS JUST AN EXPIRED CARD FFS!

"Fuck you apple, I'm buying a Roku."

The ones I know are about data visualization. Has he written something specifically about UI?
Data visualization kind of *is* a user interface. At the very least there's an underlying commonality that informs the lessons.

OOPS how do I make this video NSFW?

Yes this X 1000 :qft: Damn them for ruining a perfectly good iTunes app with whatever predatory subscription shit they have now that they make impossible to get around. I'm done with it, I don't buy anything from iTunes anymore. That doesn't stop them though. They keep downloading weird crap to me like this:

(which conveniently started playing while my boss was in the car one day). 😧 Think about that song coming on with your grandkids in the car ...

Also agree on the AppleTV too and F**K that stupid "new" remote that you can't even look at without it doing something all on it's own that totally F's what the F you were doing to begin with. The old remote was a thing of beauty, but you can't easily get your hands on them anymore. I kept the old one though, and make my husband use the new one. :devilish:

OMG - please don't get me started. :flail:

That was the remote for the first Apple integrated TV/computer, the Macintosh TV. That's actually a pretty nice remote, for 1993.

I have gone around and around with Apple support and I can’t get my device to stop deleting the ONE downloaded song even though there’s presumably over a gig of available space.

It means this thing would be useless for music without a constant internet connection.

The song is five minutes of rain noise I play on loop for white noise in my headphones. I don’t have the phone number active, it’s a very old iPhone I use with wi-fi only.

This is why I won’t use an iPhone as a phone, it would hammer the phone data and I can’t afford the kind of plan where I could ignore it.

So if I am offline and listening to my song, and in the middle of it, it will just stop, and the download is deleted, randomly.

Even when I’m at home I turn off the wi-fi when the phone is charging because it tends to really heat up.

I’m not going to start collecting songs off iTunes if I have to be constantly online to use them. And tech support won’t admit it, they keep wanting to blame the phone storage, but fiddling with that didn’t fix it.

But having the phone constantly online chews up the battery and there’s no way it would last all day.

Are you using the Apple Music cloud service? Or just actual files stored locally?

Actual file stored locally. So I’m offline listening to it, and it deletes itself and stops. That’s why I notice it. If I’m online, it deletes itself and I have to tell it to download it again and again.

I should add I’m signed up for iCloud but not Apple Music. But this is a downloaded song, so I can listen to it offline and on loop for a few hours before it randomly deletes itself.

Once you download it, convert it to a MP3 from the Apple Format, that will most likely break the link between it and the Apple store, and it should stop deleting.

Not sure how to do this on the phone itself? It’s not downloaded anywhere else. I didn’t want the hassle of trying to set up iTunes on my aging, small netbook.

I have some songs I bought from Amazon which were also only on this phone. The phone uploaded them to my iCloud and deleted the phone’s copies. I wasn’t using them and didn’t mind. But that was before I tried to keep a song downloaded to use offline.

And this is one of the big reasons I will never buy an Apple product.

I truly wish I had something more helpful to add. :(
