Yes, misusing "resisting arrest" is often one of their favorite ways to brutalize. What often happens is that they physically harm someone, that person instinctively moves to protect themselves, and boom, they use that as a reason for further beating and arrest.Police brutality against black people doesn't begin and end with police shootings. George Floyd wasn't shot by the police. Neither were Eric Garner, Freddie Gray, Tanisha Anderson, Phillip White, Dante Parker, or Joyce Curnell for example.
Nor does it begin and end with police killings. We've seen countless images of police brutalizing peaceful protesters in the last week; but while police don't usually wear riot gear and shoot tear gas at people as part of their normal day, people get senselessly brutalized and injured over the most minor of "infractions" - or sometimes even no infraction at all, in cases where people are mysteriously charged with "resisting arrest" but absolutely nothing else whatsoever. We know George Floyd's name because he died; but he hadn't, what those officers did to him was still wanton brutality and should not be allowed.
But yeah, as we all know dwb is a thing. Hell, walking while black is a thing.
