WARNING. This is horrific to watch.
The officer who did this was suspended without pay, and I hope if this guy recovers, he sues the Buffalo PD for substantial money. Based on the fact that he's bleeding from the ear means he likely has bleeding around his brain. He's gonna have issues from this concussion for a long time.

Yeah. It does no good to lie, when it's on video for the world to see. The man is 75 years old. He's currently in stable condition, but he won't escape some brain damage from this. Other Half had bleeding on the brain from a bicycle accident almost three years ago and suffers short term memory loss.

That poor guy.

The video of Chauvin kneeling on Floyd’s neck for nearly nine minutes seems too clear cut and painful to try to make excuses.

Step forward Bob Kroll, leader of the Minneapolis police union. Kroll wrote to his members this week describing Floyd as a “violent criminal”, because he did prison time, in an apparent attempt to imply Chauvin’s treatment of the unarmed man being arrested on suspicion of a non-violent minor crime was legitimate. The union chief also described those protesting over Floyd’s death as terrorists, and the dismissal of Chauvin and three other officers facing charges as depriving them of their rights.

[....]
[The m]ayor, Jacob Frey, was elected on a promise to reform the police department, with a strong emphasis on community policing. But he has said the union has resisted all such change. In addition, Frey said he is “hamstrung by the architecture of the system” of the union contract and arbitration which makes it difficult to discipline and dismiss officers for abuses.

The single largest obstacle, said Ryback, is Kroll and his leadership of the federation that is resistant to any change away from a style of policing that minority communities in Minneapolis describe as acting like an occupying force.

Kroll makes no secret of his taste for old style police tactics and courts controversy. Last year he appeared at a campaign rally with Donald Trump and praised him as a “wonderful president”.

“The Obama administration and the handcuffing and oppression of police was despicable,” he told the rally. “The first thing President Trump did when he took office was turn that around … and decided to start letting the cops do their job; put the handcuffs on the criminals instead of us.”

Kroll was wearing a “Cops for Trump” T-shirt his union started selling after Frey barred officers from wearing uniforms at political events. Kroll has been openly hostile to Black Lives Matter, calling it a “terrorist organisation”. In 2016, he commended four Minneapolis police officers who walked out of a professional basketball game because players were wearing Black Lives Matter warm-up jerseys.

Yeah he didn't join the crowd to support the protest, he joined it so he could pretend to be part of it while "looking for guns"; i.e., excuses to arrest protesters.
Did he plan on asking to see their permits? What happens when the NRA gets to write our gun laws.

Yeah, when I saw that report I wondered what it had to with anything. It is a pandemic so how is it news? In fact, how do we know the virus did not get transferred to him in the ambulance or in the hospital? Not that it matters to him either way
It's news because someone has chosen to make it so, I suppose.

The autopsy is simply a detailed medical report on the physical condition of the late Mr Floyd's body when it was examined, so anything noteworthy, be it tattoos, old operation scars or any medical conditions, will be recorded.

Read the replies. They're probably right. Derek Chauvin's wife divorced him right after George Floyd's murder, and filled to change her name, and wouldn't say what she was changing it to. That screams abused wife taking the opportunity to bolt and also avoid reprisal.
